      Re: The War in Ukraine

At this rate Biden will have us in war on 23 different fronts, Ukraine, China and Korea. Biden is walking treacherously close to violating the 1973 War Powers Resolution and if so, provides one more high crime that he should be impeached of and convicted for.

... the Ukrainian Dept of Defence has published a new free air defense app to all of it's citizens.

Should a citizen spot a Russian drone or cruise missile in the air, simply point your camera at it with the app and take a picture.

This quickly geo locates the position and helps the Ukraine air force intercept and shoot down the attack.

Russia suspends participation in UN-brokered grain export deal with Ukraine

Russia will suspend its participation in the United Nations-brokered grain export deal with Ukraine after drone attacks on the Crimean city of Sevastopol, the country’s defense ministry announced Saturday.

Moscow blames Kyiv for the attacks. CNN cannot independently verify Russia’s report and Ukraine has yet to acknowledge the incident.

“Taking into account the act of terrorism committed by the Kyiv regime with the participation of British experts on October 29 this year against the ships of the Black Sea Fleet and civil vessels involved in the security of the ‘grain corridor,’ the Russian side suspends its participation in the implementation of the agreements on the export of agricultural products from the Ukrainian ports,” the Russian defense ministry said in a statement.

The United Kingdom has denied Moscow’s claim that Britain helped Ukraine plan the Crimean drone attacks, saying Russia is “peddling false claims of an epic scale.”

Some background: In July, following months of negotiations, ministers from both Ukraine and Russia signed an agreement brokered by the UN and Turkey. Russia pledged to unblock ports on the Black Sea to allow the safe passage of grain and oilseeds – some of Ukraine’s most important exports.

Earlier this month, Russia’s ambassador to the UN said the country could potentially leave its grain deal with Ukraine, according to Reuters. Putin weighed in, too, saying Moscow would shut the export corridors if they are used to carry out “terrorist attacks.”

The World Food Programme estimated that tens of million people moved into a stage of acute hunger as a consequence of the Ukraine war, and Western officials have accused Russia of using food as a weapon during its invasion.

.... combined with historic low water levels on the Mississippi River in the USA which impedes the ability of US grain exporters to send their product down river to the world export markets, a global humanitarian food crisis is quickly approaching.

And other NATO countries. Also remember, Finland was a Russian possession, the Grand Duchy of Finland, following WWI under the Treaty of Fredrikshamn. Putin has threatened to invade them as well should NATO attempt to allow Finland to join NATO. Finland is trying to appease Putin.

US finalizing plans to send Patriot missile defense system to Ukraine

The Biden administration is finalizing plans to send the Patriot missile defense system to Ukraine that could be announced as soon as this week, according to two US officials and a senior administration official.

The Pentagon’s plan still needs to be approved by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin before it is sent to President Joe Biden for his signature.

Ukraine has been calling for the US to send the advanced long-range air defense system that is highly effective at intercepting ballistic and cruise missiles as it comes under a barrage of Russian missile and drone attacks that have destroyed key infrastructure across the country. It would be the most effective long-range defensive weapons system sent to the country and officials say it will help secure airspace for NATO nations in eastern Europe.

It is not clear how many missile launchers will be sent but a typical Patriot battery includes a radar set that detects and tracks targets, computers, power generating equipment, an engagement control station and up to eight launchers, each holding four ready to fire missiles.

Once the plans are finalized, the Patriots are expected to ship quickly in the coming days and Ukrainians will be trained to use them at a US Army base in Grafenwoehr, Germany, officials said.
Ukraine has been asking for the system for months but the logistical challenges of delivering it and operating it are immense. Despite those obstacles, “the reality of what is going on the ground” led the administration to make the decision, the senior administration official said, noting the continuing intense Russian missile barrages.

Unlike smaller air defense systems, Patriot missile batteries need much larger crews, requiring dozens of personnel to properly operate them. The training for Patriot missile batteries normally takes multiple months, a process the United States will now carry out under the pressure of near-daily aerial attacks from Russia.

The system is widely considered one of the most capable long-range weapons to defend airspace against incoming ballistic and cruise missiles as well as some aircraft. Because of its long-range and high-altitude capability, it can potentially shoot down Russian missiles and aircraft far from their intended targets inside Ukraine.

Previously, the US has sent Patriot batteries to NATO allies like Poland as a way to bolster their defenses, and sent other weapon systems to Ukraine to assist against the Russian invasion.
In recent years, the US has sent Patriot missiles to Saudi Arabia and Iraq to counter threats posed by Iran and its proxies and to the Pacific region to deter North Korea.

In total, more than a dozen US allies, including Germany, Japan, and Israel, have also purchased the system.

The US has sent Ukraine mid-range defensive National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems in recent months.

Last month US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the US is “very focused” on providing air defense systems to Ukraine.

“We’re now very focused on air defense systems and not just us, many other countries,” said Blinken.
“And we’re working to make sure that the Ukrainians get those systems as quickly as possible but also as effectively as possible, making sure that they are trained on them, making sure they have the ability to maintain them and all of that has to come together and it is. We have a very deliberate process established by the Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in Ramstein, Germany, that meets regularly to make sure that the Ukrainians are getting what they need, when they need it.”

They need to get this stuff in place before the Republicans are in charge of the house and start kissing Putin's ass again and give Ukraine to him. They sure love themselves some dictators. Oh yes indeed.

The person of the year should be the USA because without us, Putin wins the war long ago. The Untied States is footing the vast majority of the bill and we can't get so much as a thank you.

According to Kiel, the U.S. has transferred military and non-military aid worth $54.43 billion to the government of Ukraine. The database Kiel has maintained is by far the most granular and detailed accounting of what the U.S. government has provided to Ukraine, including descriptions of the individual batches of military equipment.
