EXCLUSIVE Twitter set to accept Musk's $43 bln offer

Twitter set to accept Musk's $43 billion offer

NEW YORK, April 25 (Reuters) - Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) is poised to agree a sale to Elon Musk for around $43 billion in cash, the price the CEO of Tesla has called his "best and final" offer for the social media company, people familiar with the matter said.

Twitter may announce the $54.20-per-share deal later on Monday once its board has met to recommend the transaction to Twitter shareholders, the sources said, adding it was still possible the deal could collapse at the last minute.

Musk, the world's richest person according to Forbes, is negotiating to buy Twitter in a personal capacity and Tesla (TSLA.O) is not involved in the deal.

Twitter has not been able to secure so far a 'go-shop' provision under its agreement with Musk that would allow it to solicit other bids once the deal is signed, the sources said. Still, Twitter would be allowed to accept an offer from another party by paying Musk a break-up fee, the sources added.

The sources requested anonymity because the matter is confidential. Twitter and Musk did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Twitter shares were up 4.5% in pre-market trading in New York at $51.15.

Musk, a prolific Twitter user, has said it needs to be taken private to grow and become a genuine platform for free speech.

Out of all the social media platforms, Twitter was the big dog on the block when it comes to politics and influence. This is huge. Liberals just lost a huge platform that they have controlled and shut down free speech on one side.

Epic. This makes me so happy.

It's official. Musk now owns 100% of twitter. It's a great day.

        Crazy investment decisions:

With the fame an fortune status of Elon Musk, Elon could have easily started
his own brand new social media platform. It would have saved investors billions of dollars.

A mere billion dollars for his own internet servers around the globe, either
from his own space link satellites or new terestrial based severs in
        multiple countries.
Go into direct competition with "Twitter" and call the new platform "Twatter".

        BTW. I'm not on "Twitter"...

        Just my 5 cents worth...

Twitter shareholders still need to approve the deal. The vote is not expected to take place before six months from now.

While the ex President made infamous use of Twitter, just this week he began posting on his own failing Truth Social.

While right wing activists want to believe in advance that Elon Musk is just going to roll over and become a new voice for their perspective on US politics, Twitter is a bigger brand than just the USA audience. There is no guarantee that Musk holds the same views put forth on Fox News and the like every night.

Re.How Personal day-to-day emotions get in the way:
So true... Every day is a different day for each person.
What has a positive emotion one day,can bring a person to a fowl mood the next.
If twitter is under control of mood swingers(emo's) it could end disastrous
              for company shareholders.

Elon Musk himself is on record for wanting to create a
law to ban shrimp tails left on prawns befor they're consumed.
It might be a good idea to ban shrimp tails, but should every twitter beck 'n call be catered for?

Well, in my case, choosing to learn SEO with articles like prposting.com/blog/25-redirect-301 instead of hiring specialists was a pretty bold decision, but it was definitely worth it.
