There is one major problem with that statement, especially here on the west coast where cargo vessels have been stacked up off shore waiting for months for a birth to unload because due to California laws a large percentage of trucks are not allowed in the port, included all independent drivers and any tractor manufactured prior to 2012. Opioids, especially fentanyl, are being carried across our southern border daily because it is the fastest and easiest methods of getting them in the US. ICE makes seizures but it currently amounts to less than 1% of what is coming across. And it is all because we have an administration in Washington that refuses to close the border,

Wow, talk about nonsense symbolism instead of any substance to close the border. Just another do nothing spending bill. It is not a mental health problem. It is a drug enforcement problem and the Democrats do not care.

Re: America's newest epidemic - drug overdose

mojorolla has no idea what he's talking about. He's suggesting that 90% of drugs dont cross the border but rather enter on cargo ships. Wrong.

90% of drugs enter through PORTS OF ENTRY, not shipping ports. And that means that they are crossing the border in cars and on the person.

The truth is that mojo is a bleeding heart liberal and he's doesn't give a damn about securing the border.

Safety in numbers and smaller quantities is the best way not to loose big in one bust or be accountable for such a quantity. So send as many mules as possible with just enough to conceal well. The stuff does come in by any means of entry. Have you seen those home made submarines?

Got to love the Trailer Park Boys's attempt to smuggle via model train rail into the states...

Phil drug addiction does not choose class or race it destroyed anyone in its path. It so prevalent that anyone can be exposed accidentally or unintentionally. A young person can be influence to try club drugs. Not they will ever be addicted or do that on a daily basis the substance they are taking does not come from a pharmacy. God knows what the intent behind this fentanyl influx truly is. I look at this as a terror attack.
If you get enough on your skin it could lead to unconsciousness and death.

The epidemic is not overdose. That you kind of do intentional. This is poisoning.

In my opinion part of the solution is to legalise the drugs and provide a safe supply to people. This would take it away from illegal dealers.

Finally something that we agree on. Legalize all drugs.

That is a problem with in itself. Its brutal. The drug are really dangerous and real effective in its efficacy... OK not my best statement there. What I am saying is this stuff is real addictive and as your tolerance goes goes up the amount or quality needs to go up to stop the dysphoria it will induce if you don't get it. With a drug like alcohol you can die if you don't get it but path to addiction doe snot work the same like with other drugs. If alcohol had to be discovered today it would be illegal for sure. It is a super complex problem and I believe it will always be with us. It starts with youth and education you need to change an entire generation.

Yes legalize it. Who and how does that gets controlled. Look at big pharma for insight into that. the question is how do you make it absolutely worthless? Must me made available for free. Here take the poison if you want to. Who pays for that? Would you pay part of what you work for for that cause? Some drugs like cocaine would always be glamorized and now even rare chemical substances gets glamorized. Some drugs are dirt cheap other are expensive to process. You need to produce and make it cheaper and then sell it in a legal framework. So completely privatized? You need to be held accountable for the safety of the people using it as a company?

Do not believe that this is only criminal its political and don't think that your own government could not be plotting this against its own people. Where the fuck did all the international borders gone its not only a problem the states are facing but yea the forecast there is grim. The world is in turmoil and we are only thinking as far as what is for lunch today.

Yea its a complex problem a very complex problem. Here is an introduction to Mark Laita.

It's really only as complicated as you choose to make it. Legalise the drugs. Have the government provide safer drugs to people. Doing this also allows for a chance at counseling and getting people into programs.

Does not work. Addicts don't want the government supplied drugs as they cannot get the high they want. Opioids should never be made easily available to the general public. They are highly addictive when used improperly. What can be safe and without addiction by an individual with a chronic pain condition can become addictive in as few as one dose for someone without that condition. As long as illegal drugs can follow into a country, the gangs and cartels will continue to push them to our teenagers both on the streets and on schools campuses.

Even mild tranquilizers when abused can become addictive.
