What DeSantis is doing in Florida should shock all Americans, regardless of political affiliation. Using the government to retaliate against a business simply because they oppose legislation publicly is about as clear as it gets with government overreach. Corporations also have a right to free speech and using the government to punish that speech is against the founding principles of this country. More than that, it is bad for business in general, all business.
Image a company gets a 10 year tax abatement to build a factory here in Ohio. They build the factory, create hundreds of jobs, tax revenue, etc.. Then is year 5 of the 10-year abatement, the government passes laws the company doesn't agree with. The company expresses its opposition publicly. The governor then moves to pass laws breaking the 10 year tax abatement ONLY because that company exercised its First Amendment rights. This is what DeSantis is doing is Florida. He's all butt hurt because Disney doesn't like him, or his laws and he is using the power of the state government to enact revenge. Government is there for the will of the people, not the whims of one man.

These corporations are pressured and blackmailed by these activist to go against anyone that does not agree with them . It is good to know someone stands up with the MAJORITY of the people . That bill had nothing to do with Disneys business but yet you have a SMALL majority whine and cry and force them to take a political stand . Corporations are many people . Budlight is learning its lesson with that .

The point is government should not be seeking revenge for free speech, period, full stop.
The only small minority whining and crying seems to be those on the right.
Bud Light thing is a joke. No can was ever made, nothing distributed, they sent a mock up to the influencer, that's it. You are talking about roughly 1% of their global sales; they are not going broke because they went woke. Bud Light didn't know their audience and it went over like a fart in church, poor marketing on their part.
I though the right was against "cancel culture", seems a conflict of interest to me, or, what is that word.....oh ya hypocrisy.
Why does the GOP care what is in somebody else's pants, especially children?
Twitter lost 80% of its ad revenue since the Musk take over, a far worse fate than what Bud Light is experiencing.

You are correct it was a marketing disaster for Bud Light but how about your company have a sales drop of 25% . Shareholders are not happy it effects them and damage control is going to be tough and costly. Your argument favors TWITTER and free speech thats what tweeter WAS NOT . Really its a small majority . Less the 10% (and im generous with that number) consider themselves gay , lesbian and whatever gender they think of forcing the 90% of us to abide by whatever they seem fit for there lifestlye .

So kinda like the small minority of righties who are anti choice who want the rest of us to abide by their dislike of women's freedoms? Like mojorola said, HYPOCRISY!!

An 80% drop in revenue is not favorable to ANY company, especially a social media platform whose entire operation is funded by ad revenue. If you use a site for free, guess what, YOU are the product. The 25% you reference is for the North American market, 1% of global sales which is bupkis for a 31 billion a year company whose sales rose 1.6% in the past year.
As to your claim of free speech on Twitter, didn't Elon ban the kid who tracks his jet? Banning those who disagree with him is not free speech, it is the exact opposite.
Who is "forcing" you to buy Bud Light, shop at Target, or use pronouns? Nobody, that's who. You don't like these things, don't buy them or support them, it's that simple.

Exactly. If the GOP really supported the majority as claimed, Roe v Wade would have never been overturned as a majority of Americans support safe abortions.

One can was made. The real problem was their advertising VP calling their previous customer base fratty and uninformed in a Twitter tweet. Those customers are not coming back for a long time. Most have already found a much better tasting Lite beer.

The powers that be with AB eventually suspended her and had the tweet deleted from her account, copies of it are still on the internet. Days later, too little too late. They should have taken action within hours by firing her and the ad agency that suggested the idea. And from what I have heard they then pissed off the very people she was trying to get to buy their product.

Now this is a normal reason to stop drinking a beer.
Having others tell you that you don't like it because of an ad is ridiculous.

If we are being honest, Bud Light is absolutely awful beer. Taste like when you don't clean the ice maker for too long.

That is what I have heard from on Facebook who commented as to their likes in beer. Personally I like Miller Lite or a good imported beer.

I agree with you on not buying the product issue but for a company 1 of the most important thing is there reputation . Once that is lost it is hard to regain it . As for pronouns , yes you are getting forced to use them people are getting fired for not using them . Governments are making you accept a transgender man play in a womens sport . TOTALLY UNFAIR FOR THE REAL WOMEN . Surly you agree with that .

While I think Chic-Fil-A's politics are horrible, shit man, that chicken is so friggin good. For this reason, and this reason alone, I eat there regardless of their politics. AB made a poor marketing choice, and that's how I see it, no deeper than that. Like New Coke or when Garth Brooks tried to re-invent himself as Chris Gaines (yes, this really happened), I still enjoy a Coke from time to time whilst listening to Garth Brooks. All this outrage over these mundane and un-important issues is laughable to me.

As to sports, depends on the sport. A male transitioning to a female in physical sports is not something I support as it gives them an obvious advantage. Trans folks on the chess team or Jeopardy, not an issue.

With Chic-Fil-A it wasn't politics, it was religion. And to my knowledge they never insulted their customer base.

Also for the transgender men in sports. Just create a whole category if it becomes an actual issue. As of this moment, there are only a very few instances. And yes, it is certainly a potential advantage.
