FBI says man accused of attempting to kill Brett Kavanaugh said he was ‘shooting for 3’ justices
CNN
—
In the weeks before traveling to the Washington, DC area, the man accused of attempting to murder Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh researched how to assassinate individuals and said he would be “shooting for 3” justices, according to a search warrant application from the FBI.
Nicholas Roske, who prosecutors say traveled to Kavanaugh’s home with a pistol, extra ammunition, a tactical knife and other gear, looked up terms like “most effective place to stab someone” and “quietest semi auto rifle,” the application states.
As part of the investigation, FBI agents are requesting search warrants for Google accounts and online chatlogs they believe belong to Roske and included searches and online messages from Roske.
In an online conversation on the messaging app Discord, Roske told an individual in May that he was “gonna stop roe v wade from being overturned” and that he would “remove some people from the supreme court,” according to the FBI.
“Two dead judges ain’t gonna do nothing,” the unnamed user told Roske. “You would die before you killed them all.”
Roske replied: “yeah but I could get at least one, which would change the votes for decades to come, and I am shooting for 3.”
The search history on Roske’s phone, which investigators took from Roske when he was arrested and got a search warrant for the next day, also includes searches for “assassin skills” and equipment, “how to be stealthy” and the Supreme Court’s website listing current members.
According to court documents, Roske told investigators that he was upset over the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade as well as the potential for Kavanaugh to help loosen gun laws in the country. Roske, according to investigators, said he decided to kill Kavanaugh after thinking about giving his life purpose.
In the early hours of June 8, Roske arrived at Kavanaugh’s Maryland home with his weapons and equipment, but after being convinced by his sister through text messages, ultimately called the police on himself, telling them he was thinking of killing himself and Kavanaugh, according to law enforcement.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Trump Assassination Attempt Comes Week After Disney’s ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ Star Bette Midler Suggested Biden Have FBI Use Deadly Force
Saturday’s assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump came one week after Bette Midler, star of Disney’s Hocus Pocus 2, suggested President Joe Biden arrest Republicans and allow the FBI to use deadly force in order to regain a Democrat Party majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.
“Now that Joe has total immunity, many are urging him to be GOP ruthless. Here’s a suggestion for implementing his new powers,” Midler wrote in an X post last week, sharing a screenshot from an opinion piece published by The New Republic.
Two weeks ago, Netflix’s Orange is the New Black actress Lea DeLaria, literally and emphatically called on Biden to assassinate Trump in response to the Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity, posting a video for her 1.1 million Instagram followers urging Biden to “blow him up.”
On Saturday, Trump was injured and rushed off stage by the U.S. Secret Service during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, after shots were fired with at least one bullet appearing to have hit the 45th president in the ear.
Images and videos of the harrowing scene poured into social media, showing what appears to be blood on Trump’s face.

Jill and I extend our deepest condolences to the family of the victim who was killed at Donald Trump's rally – he was a father protecting his family from the bullets being fired.
We're also praying for the full recovery of those who were injured.

I just watched the Biden address from the oval office. They got to get Joe out of this race. It's sad.
First, he tried to say: Former President Trump. He said: "former Trump."
Then he tried to say; "Americans settle their differences at the ballot box." He said: "Battle Box." He then repeated; "Battle Box."
He then said "I believe this with every soul of my being." What?Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Finally, a democrat with integrity.
Swing district Dem calls out parties' 'dangerous lies': 'Democracy or authoritarianism'
Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine, penned a lengthy thread on X about the hyperbole in American politics, urging politicians to stop framing their opponents as "fascists."
The vulnerable Democrat congressman took to X to denounce the current path that he says the country is on, adding that leaders need to guide America down a different one.
"We can start by dropping hyperbolic threats about the stakes of this election," he wrote. "It should not be misleadingly portrayed as a struggle between democracy or authoritarianism or a battle against fascists or socialists bent on destroying America. These are dangerous lies."
Former President Trump was the target of an assassination attempt at his Butler, Pennsylvania, rally on Saturday. Shots were fired around 6 p.m., just minutes after Trump took the stage. Blood could be seen on Trump's right ear and face as Secret Service agents escorted him from the stage.
Trump was treated for a wound on his ear at a local hospital before returning to his residence in New Jersey. Both the gunman and a rallygoer were killed. Others are injured and receiving care in the hospital.
Lawmakers quickly issued statements praying for Trump's safety and that of attendees.
"Following the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, we must ask ourselves questions about the future of our country and what we want for ourselves and our children," Golden wrote on X in a 10-part thread.

I agree, there needs to be more integrity. Within both partiesComment
