BYD plans to open a new factory in Mexico to boost its EV production for the US market. This strategic move, aimed at outperforming Tesla, reflects BYD's global expansion and deepening presence in America. The initiative will leverage Mexico's strategic location and favorable trade agreements, potentially reshaping the competitive landscape in the electric vehicle industry.

Hyundai Motor is set to launch its newest electric vehicle, the Ioniq 9, in December. This move comes as a surprise since the vehicle was initially expected to be called the Ioniq 7. Despite the name change, the specifications for the three-seater electric SUV will remain the same. The Ioniq 9 will be Hyundai's first large, pure-electric SUV, adding to its existing lineup of the Ioniq 5 SUV and Ioniq 6 sedan.

The decision to name the vehicle Ioniq 9 hints at Hyundai's future plans to introduce smaller models within the Ioniq electric vehicle (EV) brand. This strategy is set against the backdrop of increasing competition in the electric vehicle market, as evidenced by Hyundai's goal to outpace Kia's EV9 sales, which fell short of its target last year. The Ioniq 9 is expected to offer two battery options, allowing for a range of up to 311 miles on a single charge.

Hyundai's commitment to electric vehicles is underscored by its significant sales growth, with 268,785 EVs sold globally last year. The company also reported a record operating profit of 15.13 trillion won ($11.39 billion) in 2023, a 54 percent increase from the previous year, establishing Hyundai as a leading force in the global automotive industry.

Hyundai may want to rethink that decision ,
Apple also was facing a cooling market for EVs. Sales growth lost steam in recent months after high prices and a lack of charging infrastructure discouraged mainstream buyers from shifting to all-electric vehicles. General Motors Co. and Ford are pivoting to producing more hybrid vehicles after confronting lackluster EV demand and manufacturing bottlenecks, and automakers across the industry are slashing battery-electric car prices, production targets and profit forecasts.

I guess that gives more room for Hyundai.
