Re: Should the Dept. of Education be eliminated?
This is not a knock on copier addict, but I sometimes forget that he doesn't live in the USA and lacks knowledge on many issues. This was never more clear than in this thread.
I would be negligent if I didn't point out that he has an agenda and isn't really interested in talking about real problems and solutions. He's more interested in bashing folks like Trump and DeSantis. Why attack Florida on education when the kids making the lowest scores come from inner-cities run by democrats?
I have no agenda, sorry to disappoint you.
I used Florida because it is currently in the news about how the governor wants to take facts about slavery out of the curriculum and replace it with bullshit about how slaves benefitted by being slaves. That's one example of how the governor of Florida wants to meddle with the education system. Too much politics.
That's all. No agenda.Comment

On the other hand, democrats are forcing Critical Race Theory on kids and teaching that white kids are born racist. Just say no.
Elite K-8 school teaches white students they’re born racist
An elite Manhattan school is teaching white students as young as 6 that they’re born racist and should feel guilty benefiting from “white privilege,” while heaping praise and cupcakes on their black peers.
Administrators at the Bank Street School for Children on the Upper West Side claim it’s a novel approach to fighting discrimination, and that several other private New York schools are doing it, but even liberal parents aren’t buying it.

He has perfected it. It's part of his personality. He, and most of the amigos, are unable to criticise anything that even looks like it might lean right.Comment

Re: Should the Dept. of Education be eliminated?
There are at least 51 Departments of Education in the United States. When people discuss getting rid of one, they usually mean the federal one. The idea is for the power to go back down to the lowest level of government possible, with the expectation that the lower level of governments are also the least wasteful and most responsive to a community’s needs.
A lack of money at the U.S. Department of Education isn’t the problem. The presence of bureaucrats who’ve never been teachers, and politicians who pander for votes with taxpayer money is the problem.
I’d gladly support a tax increase for education funding, if I thought it would actually make a positive difference. But I have zero faith that it actually would do anything besides be wasted.
Giving a teacher you know a $10 gift card to buy school supplies will do more to help education in the United States than raising everyone’s taxes by $1,000 to increase funding to the U.S. Department of Education.
Pretty screwed up even for Republicans

Seriously? Do you seriously want to argue which party advocated for Critical Race Theory in our schools? Of course, you still haven't admitted that dems put porn in schools.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment
