Should you look the other way if the company you work for or used to work resets the meters on the refurbished copiers they sell, and telling the customer that the copier has a real low meter? The company I used to work for does this all of the time, and it used to piss me off when they did!!!!!!

This is a real bone of contention in general I think.
Personally I think anyone who resets meters on machines is a total cowboy who enjoys screwing his customers out of as much money as possible, especially the poor saps who buy the machine with no service contract. The bastard would be rubbing his hands in glee. It's like rolling the mileage back on a car. Imagine doing it to a Mojito with 2.5million on the clock? Within 6 months the thing would die on it's arse.
Does anyone know if this is acutally illegal? How you would report an occurence? The penalty for doing it? I must admit I've never looked into it.It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

If the customer knows it's a refurb, then they must know that the meter has been reset, that way they can tell how many copies they do.BUT if it an old bag of bones that should have been skipped and not refurbed with bugger all spent on doing it, then thats a different story.Comment

I do not know what the law says, but it should be considered FRAUD! Put em in jail. Car dealers can't do it, same principal applies. The greatest enemy of knowledge isn't ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen HawkingComment

Cheating
I have one story on this issue. One company sold a refurbish machine to law office (take note LAW OFFICE) and the salesman told to their client that the machine is a brand new one. The machine is pretty good and the meter reset to zero so if you don't know anything about the copier you can see its a brand new. one day the client go online to search the brand and model of their machine and the client found out that their machine is already 3 years older than new model. The client call up the salesman and ask him to explain. A good salesman told them that this machine is a old stock from their warehouse but is a brand new machine.
..The client don't accept and she wrote a legal letter to company.
Not wrong to sale refurbish machine but you must let you client know about what they buyingDYNAMIC OFFICE SOLUTIONSComment
