My son can't dress up as a cowboy (no gun) or an indian (politically incorrect, and no bow & arrow) or Darth Vader (no Light Saber) or a pirate (the hook is a weapon too) or a ghost (played - although my cousin did the sheet thing with a big balloon tied to each shoe - he was a condom) or any of the other good classic costumes that have served us well for years. Nobody wants a oddball costume because nobody gets it - everybody has to ask what it is.
That pretty much leaves animals.
