I was just wondering how prevalent paper manuals are. Is everyone but us using laptops for their manuals, now?
Still use paper manuals?

I always use a laptop now, it's just so much more convenient.
But we do have a old school tech that just cannot get to grips with using a computer, so he still keeps his own personal library of printed manuals.- Knowledge not shared, is eventually knowledge that becomes lost... like tears in the rain.

Yeah much the same as you guys, got an external hdd with everything backed up onto it so much easier to find something on pdf, but have got most of the main manuals on paper as well. Still like to be able to use a paper manual at times.Comment

All our Techs have laptops. We still use paper manuals in shop. Mostly because they're for dinosaur equipment. Soon that will be history. I'm scanning any old manuals to pdf's.My mission here on Earth is to help all you Dum-Dums!Comment

I use both, laptop in my van since allows more space for parts, but I prefer hard copy since they are much easier to "flip" through.Comment

We use both- but for me and to eliminate carrying more than absolutely necessary into a customers account I carry the pdf manuals on my usb stick. Havent had issues with accessing from customers system(small town people)Comment

I find that pdfs are a handy reference but scrolling through pages and zooming in and out can be tiresome. Finding the hard copy manual is a problem too!!Comment

We have hard copy in the shop, but everyone uses the website for info they don't know, or they call someone who does know.Comment

I have my laptop but I try not to use it if there is a computer available that my customer allows me to use or a fiery with a faci kit that I can plug my usb thumb drive its much faster than turning on my laptop.Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.Comment
