Canon imageRUNNER 600 finally dying - Need Suggestions on next one.

I think we purchased this Canon imageRUNNER 600 with every option in 2000. It has been a beast of a machine but in the last 6-months it has finally started to fall apart...

I have no idea now if today's Canon is of the same build quality or if any machine out there will give you a good 8-10 year run with regular maintenance these days? Xerox WorkCentre Pro purchased in 2007 has been a huge disappointment to say the least.

I've looked at Canon's latest imageRUNNER and it looks good - but it doesn't look like it would be as durable. And, technicians opinion said it's not near the durability of what the 600 was. The closest thing that I've seen that looks like similar tough build quality and usability would be Sharp...of course looking for fast bw & color, all the multi-function bells and whistles...

Come on...there has to be opinions on what brand is a durable "industry standard" for 2011?!

Anyone have a strong suggestion to match the beast that was the Canon imageRUNNER 600?

The Canon 7105 is more durable than that 600 you had. We have several with well over 25 million on them. You will have to do some digging to find a new one though, but there are plenty of low meter machines at wholesalers all across the country.

The advanced series is two new to know how long they are going to last, but we have several print shops that are putting 300 - 500K a month on them and the harder they run the equipment the better it performs.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

How about a Kyocera TASKalfa 620? It's reliable and just a hair faster than the IR600.

I was just talking with another tech today about the beastly ir600. I had one with 6 mil that had the original drum and never changed any parts in the doc feed. I had better luck with the ir600 than the ir7105.

From what I've seen of the new IRA8105 it should be every bit as good as the ir600 and then some. Finally went back to a write to white laser which makes a solid black. Only 3 clutches in the entire machine, and those are related to the toner hopper and developer. Changed to a tx belt/roller system. Did away with the shutter in the fuser. The duplex drawer is now part of the fuser drawer....Looks to be a workhorse.

The new ira8105 are very nice. I have worked on several ir600. None of them went over a few million before they were traded in for just newer machines. Everyone loved thier ir600 though. The ir 8500 I got to see go to 12 million at a print shop before it wanted to start falling apart everywhere. BUY A IMAGERUNNER.
