i quit debating tea-baggers a few months ago, they are full of talking points and interesting bits of info that are often factual, but that is about all they have, little bits. They almost always fail to see the big picture and see how they fit into that big picture. It amazes me that someone making 40k-60k a year in this country will complain about corporate tax rates and "death taxes" while never once complaining about the cost of health care or higher education. it amazes me that they consistently vote against their own best interests.Comment

Re: Top 12 Reasons to vote Democrat
That was a good read, I saw it earlier this week.
Thanks for proving that when presented with something other then a "talking point" the average tea-bagger will throw out some BS like "a poor man never gave me a job" or "it was cold yesterday so therefore the majority of the world scientists must be wrong".

Re: Top 12 Reasons to vote Democrat
I listen to AM radio in the car (workdays) if i am bored of music or just need something else to keep my mind going.
I listen to Conservative and progressive talk radio. Sometimes i find myself yelling at the person on the radio.
Sometimes it's too "party line" and contrived. But, by listening to both sides i am "hoping" to hear both sides.
I will say this... LOWER the tax rates!!!!! The feds get way too much as it is.
My wife owns a very small business.
We pay quarterly taxes and then file jointly together at end of year. No, i don't need tax advise. I just want to say that the Feds get MORE than their fair share of our money. Tired of paying EVERY April too!!!!!

The word that Jimbo used was "amazed" and not offended.
Why cant people have a conversation and keep their emotions in control and not revert back to grade school tactics by name calling. In the end we are still human and live on the same planet. None of us are going to escape to some far away place and live in paradise for eternity.
Why not be reasonable and in a good mood when you wake up instead of being miserable and angry???

Re: Top 12 Reasons to vote Democrat
You are absolutely right. We are all human, and we all have to live together. So let's not dismiss each other wholly because of differing viewpoints. We all have thoughts that we think are valid, and beliefs that we hold closely. By implying that one group's ideas are wrong, stupid, or inconsequential, you are going to get impassioned feedback. What did you expect to happen? Nobody's thoughts and feelings are insignificant, so let's just start showing everyone a little respect.I must have a prodigious quantity of mind; it takes me as much as a week sometimes to make it up - Mark TwainComment

I posted it as HUMOR because I found it FUNNY. By nature i am an independent and vote for candidates regardless of what party they are affiliated with. I am not the one taking offense to what anyone has said...I was just simply asking a question to Hemlock about his post.

Re: Top 12 Reasons to vote Democrat
I have a question... #6 talks about abortion...lets see if I understand...abortion is bad, so we should stop it because it is killing babies... but when the baby is born, we do not want the child the have health care, because that would make Jesus sad. I am not sure I understand why Jesus wants the babies to be born and then suffer with no health care. Also does this love of babies only apply to white babies??? I mean when you look at the stats, we as a country have killed a lot of unarmed people. Seems to me if the right wing really valued life, they would be the biggest anti war protestors. Unknown*News | Helen & Harry's cranky weblog of news and opinion | unknownnews@inbox.com
Yep, you got me on #3 also because I HAVE NEVER seen someone on the right on Fox news whining about something someone said. Just like I HAVE NEVER seen a teabagger trying to shout someone down at a town hall meeting or public rally to keep them from expressing their ideas or exercising their freedom of speech.
Yep #4 is a slam dunk for you also... after you take away everyone I know and work with and am related to, I don't know any non right wingers who own guns. Since we are the weak ones in society we should be easy targets... So come get some!
I noticed like a good teabagger, you put the oil companies first, good for you. I am sorry but I have a brain and I was taught a long time ago that nobody in business works for a 4% turnover. Amazing how they make more profit than any other business in the America's with that tiny margin. I have no problem paying my gas tax as it is what is paving my roads. Where do you get the 15% number from? In my state the tax is a set amount per gallon that is clearly posted on the pump. The amount does not change. I think you guys are getting screwed if you are paying a percentage.

I see the teabagger word is in use again . If you cared to do any research you would find that the Big Bad Oil Companies spend billions os dollars a year on oil exploration
and then our government puts every obstacle in their way to prevent them getting oil to the pumps which might conceivably drop fuel costs to the average man in the street . Do some research , you might be surprised -----oh sorry you are a liberal , I forgot.Comment

Blows my mind every time. Let me see, they make more profit than any other company, plus they pay no U.S. taxes, plus they get billions of tax dollars on top of that, and you think that if we let them do anything that they want, they will lower gas prices and make less profit. So I am guessing that you do not know about OPEC and that they set oil prices. When the price gets too low, they cut production. But that is OK, we as a country can never go wrong depending on countries who hate us for our energy. You do understand that since we use 75% of the worlds oil and only have 25% under our ground, we can never drill our way out.The greatest enemy of knowledge isn't ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. ... between 2006 and 2010, the largest oil companies averaged a profit margin of around 6.5%. This pales in comparison to profit margins in just about every other industry. The pharmaceutical industry, for example, routinely averages a profit margin of about 16%. The soft drink market is even more lucrative.
INstead of the problem with BIG OIL, shouldn't we rally against BIG APPLE for their obscene profits?
.......Apple's profits increased by 78 percent compared to the same period last year, and the company's revenues by 70.5 percent.2000 mockingbirds = 2 kilomockingbirdsComment

Re: Top 12 Reasons to vote Democrat
It does not matter what percent of profit they made. Even if it was one percent they still rank as the companies that make more profit than any other companies. I am amazed at how some are hypnotized by big oil as though they are gods. Do you really think that oil companies are worried about you and looking for ways to make your life easier? If they were, they would start by giving back the government billions that they got. You will go to your grave thinking they are saints, and they will die laughing about the profits they sucked out of you.
The facts remain.. OPEC sets the price and oil companies sell oil for profit. If the Chinese want it more, Exxon will sell it to them and leave America short. They will drill oil from inside a national park and ship it to China.
How many of you would drive to a bad part of town to get your food, even though you and your family may be robbed or killed. You would not. You would find another source for food. It will never make sense that we get our energy from people who hate us. If we had started developing alternate sources decades ago, we would not need foreign oil now. Oil company lobbies are the number one obstacle to the government pursuing that science .
As far as your comment about Apple...
It shows how the right will try to divert the subject rather than debate the facts
Apple paid U.S. taxes, they are trying to dodge them, but currently pay 24%
Apple did not get billions of free taxpayer dollars
Most all of the large companies are doing there best to dodge taxes here and the right wing wants them to get a free rideThe greatest enemy of knowledge isn't ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen HawkingComment
