    Re: Windows7

I don't know what the issues are, but I love my Windows 7 machine and prefer it over Vista anyday. XP was easier to setup, but things change so you just have to learn the new OS. When you go under the "Network and Sharing Center" goto the Advanced Settings and make sure you have file and print sharing turned on for your current profile. You might also want to enable the 40-56bit file encryption for older machines to authenticate with that computer.

Also when you share a folder on the desktop or under the My Documents folder, you need to pay attention to the folder path, if you use the default path Win 7 creates for you, it will be something awkward like \\ComputerName\Users\User123\Documents\Scans. In Windows XP it would of been \\ComputerName\Scans. If you select "advanced sharing" in the folder's properties, you can create the share directly and make it \\ComputerName\Scans, no matter where the folder is on the computer.

Also, make sure the user account you are using the authenticate with the computer has "co-owner" or "contributor" permissions to the folder you are scanning to.

Overall, 7 has been less problematic than Vista was for me. I would not go back to XP if I had the choice.

FTP scanning is easy to setup, but it's an outdated protocol and if the customer has on-site IT, they will not like using FTP for scanning.

I just dumped Win 7 Ultimate and went back to 7 Pro. My system is running much better now. What a nightmare!
