Has the great advice you find here on this forum ever worked against you? Sure, I find wonderful solutions to all kinds of problems when I'm searching through these threads, but every once in a while, it backfires on me. For instance:
Boss: Don't you have something more important to do than look at your computer?
Me: I'm on a tech forum. There is a lot of useful information here.
Boss: Why don't you just call tech support if you have a question?
Me: Because I get more information from other technicians than I ever have from classes, or from the support line.
Boss: Like what?
Me: I've learned that you can fix a bad touch screen on a voyager with a curling iron.
One week later, and there are a dozen voyagers with bad touch pads in my shop, and they need to be delivered YESTERDAY!! That'll teach me to open my big mouth. Next time, I'll just tell him I was goofing off, and move on to something else.
