    tech vehicle

I was wondering what vehicle techs are buying (RBS/Ikon)? Techs with the RBS cars, what are they buying when the lease runs out. I'm goig to need to buy one next year sometime, not sure if I want to buy a truck or something like the Chvy HHR

Before you go out and buy an HHR, I strongly encourage you to check with other Consumer Reports and the like to see what kind of reliability reports there are on this vehicle. Better yet, check with fellow techs who have (and had) them to see just how well it holds up under the duress of copier field service.

Let's just say that I've heard a few "stories" which very well may help influence your decision.

I realize that Runzheimer uses this vehicle as a base, but that does not necessarily mean that it is reliable.

I agree, I drive a toyota sienna now. 270,000 miles, bought with 42,000 on it. I actually was thinking of a nissan truck again, last one i retired was 98 and it had 218,000 and it was bought new.

Honda Elements work pretty good and you do not have to worry about the tailgat portion leaking water like on a truck.

i have had the hhr for a rental a couple of times, the cars sucks, doesnt get great mpg and a lil hard to see behind u when paraell parking and such.

i use my 06 scion xb (built by toyota) for work, lots of room, u can see really well all the way around, great gas mpg bought it with 22k miles about 3 years ago and now it has 160k miles still runs like a top

Bad gas mileage, my wife just traded hers in for a Chevy Cruz, which gets about 40mpg highway. My boss uses Toyota Tacoma's. Mine has a solid cover on the back.

A Porsche, for a service vehicle?

I got the Sales manager to bring a MP C7501 fuser back from our coast office, it damn near filled the back of his BMW X6. I dont think they will make a good tech truck either.

I find my Acura TSX to be a good size. I don't have to carry a lot of parts with me and I can still fit small machines in my back seat. I got 165k on it right now and never had any major issues. With the current suspension mods and ECU flash, I'm sure there are very few techs that can beat my response time.

I drive a 1994 Mazda B2300 pickup. For me a pickup has always been my favorite service vehicle. But with 365K on it mine is getting a little tired.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

Subaru Outback wagon. Not too bad on the gas mileage about 26 mpg average. Have hauled things I never thought would even be possible. There's always just enough room...a little tight sometimes but just enough. No floor model copiers though of course.

Plus the AWD does very well in these sh*tty Pennsylvania winters.
