Anybody fan of Top Gear (British Version)?
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!". -
Re: Anybody fan of Top Gear (British Version)?
Absolutely, been addicted for a few years now. I have every episode, unless the missus has thrown them out.I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. ~Thomas Edison -

I don't get a chance to watch the idiot-box(television) very much.
I must confess though I like the British verision of Top-Gear far better than the Australian version.
We have a saying here in OZ they're "as mad as cut snakes".... They're a laugh a minute....Inauguration to the "AI cancel-culture" fraternity 1997...

Re: Anybody fan of Top Gear (British Version)?
Of course!
I'm on the waiting list to go see it live. Think the list has come down a little to 12 years or something.
Some of the episodes are weaker than others, but I wouldn't miss them. The 3 presenters themselves have said for over 5 years they have no idea what to do with the show. They would like to do something different with it, but don't know what. Got to admit that the recent Christmas India special was not great. But who else could produce something like it?
I watch the Oz and US versions, like them, but they just seem "wrong" somehow. What do the colonies know about cars anywayYes, I am a nerd.

Re: Anybody fan of Top Gear (British Version)?
I love it. I think the crazy stuff they try is very funny. I love cars but NEVER like car shows because they're boring (I'm a girl, what do you expect.). Top Gear (British version) is the only one I watch. I love how they make fun of Americans and they're right, we can't make a decent car in this country. If we did, Toyota Camry and Honda Accord wouldn't be the best selling cars. You "can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting one" of those. We have do the best we can with what we have, which is why so many of us buy foreign.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".Comment

Top Gear is, officially, the best show on British telly. It's a shame the BBC don't realise this and spend proper money on it, making it 13 episodes per series again, instead of cutting it to 6. They're obviously more interested on making crap sitcoms and period dramas. It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

For that matter they are closing the iconic Television Centre in London and moving the staff to Salford also....
.....as Brits who have to pay for a "Licence" to have television sets, I haven't heard anyone yet say that any of this is money well spent. It may bring jobs to Salford, I doubt it though, it's more likely going to bring a deluge of whiney displaced London media types to working class Salford where they are going to be about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit. (For a Stateside analogue, imagine a truckload of pampered Beverley Hills T.V Network execs descending on Detroit or even just moving down the road to Compton, Long Beach or Inglewood and setting up shop....)
As for Top Gear, I think Jeremy Clarkson especially makes a sport of just how much he can get away with without getting fired (the BBC is perhaps excepting only The Guardian newspaper, the most fawningly politically correct institution in the U.K). I think he deliberately says things that are going to court controversy, both to promote the show (no publicity is bad publicity) and possibly just because he is a wind-up merchant and relishes getting reactions like this:-
Jeremy Clarkson must be destroyed | Comment is free | guardian.co.uk
I've been working on the copier in school staff rooms (practically guaranteed to have at least one well thumbed copy of The Guardian on the table at all times) where I've heard Clarkson being talked about like he's some kind of crass, boorish, middle aged, pube-haired incarnation of Satan himself.... which seems to me the very reaction he's looking for.Comment

Re: Anybody fan of Top Gear (British Version)?
I don't watch it for political commentary. Besides it's British, what do I know about British politics anyway, I'm American. I think it's funny. I've learned things about the history of cars and my feelings about American cars are getting put into words.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".Comment

Re: Anybody fan of Top Gear (British Version)?
Enjoyed the first one of the new season.
Tough choice between the Lambo, MC12-4 and the Noble. Apart from the Noble killing its clutch in the first 30 miles. Although if its a demo car it will have had a hard life.
Think I would still take the Lambo.
Saw a white Avantador in my village 2 weeks ago. Even better in the flesh. Awesome. Guy let me have a little look round it.Yes, I am a nerd.
