I think this is what you're asking for.

All ink based machines have a waste ink absorbtion pad in them and is normally always located directly under or next to the purge unit. The purge unit is where the print head parks when you turn the machine off.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

Disembowling a inkjet, is that like a snuff film for laser techs?

          Hello,

This may be what you are looking for:

if you think that's bad have you ever noticed ho much ink/crayon a xerox phaser dye-sub printer wastes during warm-up. I have been told that depending on the model it is 25-50 pages worth. But the output does look great, as long as you never turn it off.

I had a counselor at a middle school who had an old Apple Stylewriter inkjet printer. The purge unit had seized up due to all the ink leaking down on it. At this time I think the Stylewriter II's had been out for 2 or 3 years. The cost of the purge unit was like 120 bucks where she could have gotten a newer model for not much more money. She had me replace the purge unit and it didn't take but a few months and there we were replacing it again. Since then I hate inkjets and just tell people to throw them away and buy a real printer.
