Lifeline was created in 1985 and expanded in 2008, during the Bush administration ...

Do you really think the government actually trying to help the regular person instead of the rich is "marxism"?
Wow! Kinda makes you wonder.
I guess if you would rather pay for every visit to the doctor or hospital they may let you opt out. I bet you don't though.Comment

Re: Poll: How did you cast your ballot?
To answer your last question, Yes, I did look at stopping all contributions to my health insurance, and placing those funds into an HSA account... which Obamacare is making illegal to do so... It's over $5,000 a year for my family's premiums through my employer, then it's another $3,000 in deductibles before they pay a dime, which even then they only pay 80%. 10 years ago I had pretty good coverage, and it is still available, but would cost over $10,000 for my family of four - I paid $2,200 for it back then, and most of the outrageous inflation has been in the last 3 years.73 DE W5SSJComment

HSAs aren't banned under PPACA, just regulated. And, do you really think that you can save enough to pay for your wife's bout with breast cancer or your kid's leukemia treatments? We can do much more with pooled resources. And don't give me this song and dance about how you'll just stay home, sick and dying, when your HSA is as empty as your version of christianity - you're gonna call 911.
Increased insurance has as much to do with an aging population and poor general health as anything. As Mississippi is one of the states with the highest percentage of obese residents; you'd be doing a greater service to yourself, ultimately, if you helped your neighbors get started with a healthier lifestyle. Ask your (overweight) coworker to go walking at lunch. Play frisbee with the people on your block. Do something other than sticking your head in the sand and bitching.
I like (sarcasm alert) how you bitch that insurance companies raised deductibles and raised your premiums yet absofuckinglutely don't want the gov't to regulate them. Heaven forbid that they should have to spend any of your premiums on keeping you healthy or fixing what ails you.

Re: Poll: How did you cast your ballot?
Nooo... Marxism by definition calls for government/communist control of basically all social and economic factors in life. Therefore, Marxism is the government telling insurance companies what coverage they will and won't provide, and what they will charge. Marxism is telling every American they must PURCHASE it with money from their own pocket even if it forces them to pay for coverage they don't want, need, or violates their religious beliefs. Forcing American citizens to pay for coverage they don't want is bad enough, but congress exempting themselves and their union boss cronies is worse, and outright giving it to illegals is beyond stupid.

Marxism, by definition, is not a dictatorship or communism. You seem to have your ideologies mixed up.Comment

Also never said I don't want the government to do something about the astronomical cost of health insurance, but Obamacare is NOT the answer - it has only been making things worse. The GAO told us up front that it would cause rates to rise much faster than if we did nothing. It needs repealed and replaced with something that has a snowball's chance in hell at actually working - and the absolutely least efficient and most expensive way of doing anything is and has always been a government agency.Last edited by Shadow1; 11-24-2012, 09:58 PM.73 DE W5SSJComment

No... Marxism is worse. It's founded on those principals, but has a few sneaky twists that in essence make a system where you're responsible for the government's interference and inevitable screw-ups.73 DE W5SSJComment
