No jokes or smartass remarks from me today. All thoughts going to victims in Connecticut.

I would ask that this thread not become a place to espouse hatred or views on gun control or anything else.

It is meant simply to reflect on what has been lost and what we still have. I personally plan to go hug my grandkids this weekend and think about all the grandparents who can't do that now.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families who have lost a child in this terrible shooting. I can't start to imagine how they feel right now. Also to the families of the few adult innocent victims my thoughts are with you. A sad sad day

It saddens me to think that society has reached a point where it's becoming a first response to find the nearest firearm and spray up a school... When will the madness end?

I live about 50 miles or so from Chardon, Ohio, where the shootings there happened last February.

Just saw on the news the reactions of folks interviewed in Chardon, and it's just so sad.

They are planning a candlelight vigil in the Chardon town square tonight, and a massive turnout is expected.

The following is something I've been posting on news sites this evening. Maybe if they hear from enough people they might try it.

"In light of the most recent school shooting I would like to offer the following thoughts. Many methods have been tried to stop this kind of thing from happening and obviously nothing has worked. In my opinion, at least some of the time the shooters are trying to have their "15 minutes of fame" and unfortunately they get it. I would like to
suggest that their names never be used in any reports.

Most people know the names, Charlie Starkweather, Charles Manson or Timothy McVeigh, but how many outside of family members could name their victims. Maybe it won't do any good to keep the shooters names out of the media, but it's never been tried. Let's stop making celebrities out of those who don't warrant it."

This puts my year end ass chewing and job threating from the GM in it's place!!! God have mercy on those young souls and their teachers !!! May the shooter burn in hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I drive past Pearl High School every day... and my 5yo daughter has stopped me for 5 hugs in the last 10 minutes... I haven't turned one down since she was born, and don't plan to. EVER.
