    Re: My Statement for Friday

Not sure how common-law relationships work in the states, but I did study up on it a bit for Canada... In a co-habitating domestic partnership, the laws apply as follows:

If the couple has remained together, in the same residence of a conjugal relationship for 3 years it is a common-law marriage. If that same couple were to have a child involved, there is only 1 year required for the relationship to be recognized as a common-law marriage.

In all technicality, she could be your wife, but again I don't know how it works South of the border...

I've stated before, Paul's a good guy, and it started a rather entertaining flame war. He's trying to earn a buck just like the rest of us, and he happens to be a big fan of a good joke now and then too...

Well it was only Gregg who objected to me calling her my wife and he's no longer among us. FH. It's different in every state. Nevada isn't a common-law state but they do recognize domestic partnerships. Go figure.

My whole career in this industry, I have always heard, "We love him" or "We hate him".

I refuse to kiss butt, that is sale's job.
I will repair the equipment to the best of my ability if they respect me or not.

Paul's advertising posts are just what they are, paid advertising.
Kinda having to watch a commercial on TV.
Do you call the station and bitch because you had to watch a tampon ad?

Any time he posts a comment is when he gets a negative post against him or just to point out to an end user to call a real tech.

Paul has my respect and gratitude for his willingness to help and his sarcastic humor.

        NUFF Said!
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

          Re: My Statement for Friday

I can't stand Paul's manual advertisements in posts. I believe he should get a banner ad like everyone else who wants to put an add. But that is not my call, it is the forum administrator's. Which means, it's none of my business. If it was my forum, I would get my way, but it isn't mine so I choose to ignore his ads. I'm not bashing you, Paul, just stating an opinion.

Having said that, I will also say that he is helpful, and I have bought manuals from him without problems or issues. They are superior to others who sell manuals. I have given manuals or other information away free on occasion, but I am very selective (maybe 3 or 4 times since I've been here) and I do it through PM's/email. (Although, I have not done it in quite some time, since it is time consuming and I have better things to do with my time.) I think he is overly sensitive about it and flies off the handle far too quickly, but it IS his lively hood, so who am I to judge?

He's a good guy. He's paid his dues. Leave him alone.

PS: You should consider making your marriage legal, but that's a personal decision and really none of my business, either.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

Speaking as a married man, I feel the need to ask who in their right mind thought marriage was ever a good idea? When in history has anyone ever said "I love you so much that we should get this legally recognized with a piece of paper, and invite a judge and some lawyers into it, and pay out the backside for pieces of melted minerals in the shape of a little circle specifically fitted for the one occasion and it should never ever be taken off lest we incur the wrath of our wives". Just doesn't quite add up to me... Here I am, the sucker who bought into it now though.

Speaking as a thrice married (and divorced) woman, I can categorically state that marriage is never a good idea

Ah don't give up. I had a lady friend in Arizona who at about your age married #8 and that one worked.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

In the context of marriage, I believe I was correct.

My parents have been married 50 years (ages 70 and 71) and are very happy. I know that is not the same with everyone. Don't take my word for it:

My mother says, "It took me all this time to get him trained. Why in the world would I want to start over and do all that work again! Young people today are far to quick to give up. It takes commitment, communication, patience, and a lot of love to make it work. You can't take each other for granted"

My dad says, "I don't feel like we've been married that long. It seems only yesterday, when we walked down the aisle. I'm not saying it has been easy. Neither of us are perfect and it takes a lot to work problems out, but when you love someone, it's worth it. I've never regretted it. We are much closer than we've ever been because we know what we went through to stay together. It takes 2 people to make a marriage and both have to be willing to work it out. Which means you have to be willing to admit when you're wrong (laughs) even when you think it may not be your fault."

My parents have just celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary and they are blissfully happy, I have seen it more so recently as my dad has been quite ill. It is lovely to see them holding hands and looking into each others eyes, marriage does work sometimes, just not for me

Even Murphy (Famous Murphies Law) was an optimist . You would hardly believe it, but He was quoted as being so.
