I never considered George W. Bush it be one of the "enlightened among us" but he must have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express the night before he went Socialist and signed the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.

On a personal note, I have been using CFL's for the past 6-7 years and they work fine in most applications but they are just a stop-gap until the cost of LED lighting can be brought down to a reasonable level. As soon as that happens you will see the CFL's start to disappear in favor of the much more efficient LED technology.

Well, you must be one of those who thinks that George Bush was a Conservative.
Secondly, those CFL's may save a little money but the health risks are worse than the benefits and whoever was President at the time wasn't who dream t it up. Right?

That all depends on what you consider a Conservative, if you call someone who's only political solution is to scream, "cut taxes" at the same time he spends money like a drunken sailor then yes, you could consider him a Conservative.

PS. I'm glad you found a new place to blog, we usually don't agree but I still read your stuff.

No that's not what I call Conservative and how did this turn into a George Bush thing?
We have CFL's courtesy of the green movement and obviously that needed to do a little more testing and research before making them mandatory. Even if it 's a temporary mandatory.

                    Re: Greening us to death.

Firstly, Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb. In fact he really didn't invent very much. He perfected things invented by other people. (I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that). He was a business man and did things for a profit. (Again, nothing wrong with that). But it is a common misconception that he invented the light bulb.
Secondly, I agree that the CFL bulb is one of the worst alternatives to incandescent lighting. Everyone of them has mercury in it and must be disposed of properly. How many are? I would say, not very many.

So you're basically saying Thomas Edison was yesteryear's Steve Jobs?

Because my political ideology leans left and we blame everything on GWB (except for the stuff we blame on Regan)
