Just thought I would share a couple of pikkies from our Australia Day, long weekend floods in Bundaberg Queensland, we have had the wildest weather and Record Breaking floods, looks like a few more days off as our office is under water.

Yes, definately damp paper haha, will be seeing more of that, humidity is high, sun is blazing 35C and the River is still rising, the floods in 1942 peaked at 8.59 Metres and at the moment we are at 9.4 M, expected to exceed 9.5 this afternoon about 2pm (OZ time), we have had Blackhawk choppers evacuating 1500 stranded people from rooftops etc yesterday and through the night, if it doesn't rain between now and the weekend the big cleanup should commence.

Thanks for your thoughts, this is the 3rd time in 3 years (supposedly called a One Hundred Year event), but the volume of water is almost a metre over anything in Aus recorded history for our area.

Its two years since the flood went through our warehouse in Brissie. The Boss had a few sleepless nights over the weekend. Fortuantly the river didnt peak anywhere near the predicted height. Lots of sympathy with you guys up in the capricorn region, we know what its like cleaning up after a flood.

Hey Canonbundy, I've been watching the news and in all the reports about your town going under I haven't seen any reference to that most important piece of Queenslands infrastructure.......how safe is the rum distillery? Is there a chance we will be drinking rum 'n Burnett River?

Yeah Lagonda, every chance the next batch will be Burnett n Bundy Vat-2013.
We are still cleaning out our shop, no power till Monday but the really sad part is the Officials are allowing only the people who have properties on the North Side over the only bridge left (the 100 yr old Burnett Bridge), and the picture is not pretty, some houses have only their roofs showing (sunk down in sinkholes) others have been displaced into other streets, turned over or flattened, I know this sort of thing happens all over the World and the thought is always OMG and there are probably people reading this who can relate to what has, and has been happening, but until it happens on your own doorstep the reality of it all doesn't really sink in, it brings a tear to the eye when you drive through the streets and see people's livelyhood, furniture and possesions on the footpaths waiting for the dumptrucks, it's going to take months and in some cases years for a lot of folks to recover from this.
