brought this device on saturday and its set up fine but will not play youtube videos. all i get it the spinning wheel. turned off the pc and router. tried a reset - nothing. I get the menu for the videos and i can search but it will not play. running through an ethernet and has no problems with download content i.e watched the new batman without a single glitch.

This wouldn't be because of some version of the Apple-VS-Google feud? That was quite the issue on Slashdot ( Slashdot: News for nerds, stuff that matters ) last year, to the point that for Youtube to work on some Apple products you had to download the application from Apple's store, for at least a while. -

The newer versions of Apple TV run off iOS, which does not support Flash. Your choices will be to either find the YouTube app, or try the HTML5 version of YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/html5 but even that may not work.
Gotta love Apple and their (non) support for a lot of standards. Then again, by removing Flash support they pretty much built a reliance on apps instead of mobile websites.Comment

fixed! - disconnected the ethernet cable and it works same as the update as well!Comment
