Boston Marathon bombed at the end of the race. 2 explosions could be heard and they have found another explosive.

Condolences to the families of the 2 persons killed in this cowardly attack.

The attackers could be domestic or foreign terrorists. The media is leaning towards a domestic terrorist (lone wolf) with an effective low tech weapon (2x pressure cookers loaded with explosives and shrapnel on a timer).

Future indoor/outdoor public events will be forever changed around the world by this event that will send insurance rates and security costs skyrocketing for charitable events.

Sadly, IEDs come to America's home soil. Experts are not surprised.

"Some people are wondering, "How do we prevent Newtown?" And so I ask "How do we prevent Boston Marathon bombing?" The answer is we can't. Evil is evil. Get that through your brain. If somebody wants to commit an atrocity, they will find a way. Taking away everyone's rights and freedoms of movement, of assembly, and of privacy is not the answer. Even in prisons, which are the most secure, least free places on earth, murder occurs. Measures to reduce our freedoms is simply a step toward living as you would in prison. Sorry, that's not happening. If you want to stop violence, deal with the root cause, not the tools used to carry out the violence. Would you now ban nails, ball-bearings, crock pots, and fertilizer because somebody used that stuff to make a bomb? Would you ban hammers and golf clubs and cars because somebody used that to commit murder? Please think for a sec. There are other ways to reduce violence. It will never stop but one could reduce it with common sense."

This is spot on, we all need to be alert to what is going on arround us, keep yours eyes open and not be timid to report something that dont seem right.
Dont take it on your self, least that what law enforcement tells us, but I will defend my house, wife and son, with every thing I have.

There have been substantial news updates on the subject of the bombing. I've been trying to follow it.

There was a shootout last night at MIT, one officer reported dead, one in surgery.

If anyone has seen pictures, the original 2 suspects of the bombing were seen wearing white and black hats. The one with the black hat was killed at the MIT shootout and the one with the white hat is at large in Watertown, MA packing various explosives and 2 "long guns".

... I agree that billions is a very large number that I find hard to believe as well. I did not write the article.

Certainly the immediate disruption is in the many millions and future public events across the world will be more costly.

Already the cost of the London Marathon has gone up due to additional security forces being added.
