    Re: How was your day

End of month report week :sigh: (fun). I dont want to say anything else and jinx myself for the rest of today. So far so good.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

        Re: How was your day

Was this a contest? If it was, I have a new entry.

Was having a great day, getting shit done and making money, then...

I got careless. Apparently the parking break is there to keep shit from happening when you are parked.

I pull into the customers drive on base. Two cars wide and about 35 to 40 feet long, with a downhill incline. There is a military truck parked on the left side to the front. It is a Dodge Ram 3500 with a custom built rear. It is made from solid tube steel. I park about 5 feet behind that truck. I then went inside and started working on an HP 4600. After about 7 or 8 minutes the Captain comes to be to say there is a problem with my truck. I go out to find it smashed into the large wooden deck and wedged between it and a light pole. When I got out, I didn't set the parking break. After I was in the building it jumped out of gear. My wheels were turned to the left from pulling into the drive. If they had been straight, It would have gone 5 feet forward and stopped when it hit the military truck. However, with my wheels turned, my truck , as it rolled downhill, made contact with the sharp rear corner of the Dodge. It had the effect of dragging a screwdriver down the side from the passenger side front fender to past the door, opening up part of the door like a can opener. The truck continued down another 10 to 12 feet until it smashed into the deck, folding in the fender and buckling the hood. Because contact was made with the truck and deck, got a $100 ticket. Truck is in body shop, so I get to drive one of the old smelly ones.

Since it is North Carolina and it has rained for the last 3 days, the humidity was only 2 or 300 per cent for the hour and a half I was outside.

The First Sergeant pointed out that it could have been worse. The light pole stopped it from taking out their central air and hitting the building. They would have been really pissed.

Would have posted pics, but 40 pound puppy ate phones usb, after munching on my new glasses.

Edit..downloaded dropbox and have new avatar and profile pic.

It is a "How was your day?" post, not "How was your Shitty Day?" post.

Started after a bad day and needed vented.

              How about good posts?

Ever had that day that you were the hero, or fixed something that was kicking your ass?

How about SPD's. (Stupid People Days)?

There is more to our business than one or two bad days and I am sure we can come up with some anecdotes.

Crow when it is good, bitch when it is bad and tell the story.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

If you are seeking a tale of when shit goes your way...

Several years ago, i custom ordered a color printer for a customer.$2200 I think. When I went to deliver it, i was told that he did not have the authority to order a printer, and they refused to take it. So about an hour later I am sitting in a parking lot a little bummed about having to eat this printer. My phone rings and it is someone I was trying to sell this same model printer to 6 months earlier. He tells me he has money to spend and ask if I can still get that printer. "Well, as a matter of fact, I will be there in 15 minutes to install it."

I think for the 15 minute trip over there, I probably yelled "HELL YES" a half a dozen times.

You asked how my day was, so I'm telling you...absolutely shit.
A couple of years ago I was overweight, everyone accepted me as I was. Now I have lost all that excess weight and am at a healthy weight for my height and feeling good about myself, virtually every day someone feels the need to be rude and tell me I'm too skinny and I look ill/old/awful. Today was particularly bad as it was my sister and niece that were unbelievevably rude to me. I am going to start being rude to them in return, do you think people will get upset if I tell them they have a fat arse or flabby thighs, after all, it's no different to what they're doing to me, but they seem to think it's OK when it's this way round...rant over

You seem like a really nice person. Bet you find it hard to be rude. Better to rant on this site and remain classy.

Also, if people are dissing you for not being fat, sounds like jealousy.

my belief is that the ability to be civil and polite is a reflection on what a person thinks of them self and their life. Some people are sad and unhappy and it shows in how they interact with others.

take it all with a grain of salt, it just show that they are insecure with who they are.
you have done something for yourself that makes a difference to you, not them.
feel absolutely amazed and proud of yourself for your accomplishments and stand proud.

the only one in your life that you have to answer to is YOU.

now to put the proverbial screws to them is for you to live well, and enjoy your new found you.

I don't know, sometimes you just have to rip into the occasional moron for your own sanity's sake. That being said however, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a nice, fat ass...

                                Re: How was your day

I've actually been having some pretty good days recently. Four calls a day that were relatively easy to fix and somewhat unlikely to produce call backs. The service route was the circle of life (first and last call relatively close to home, and the others were in order on the circumference). The time in the car wasn't unusually long for me, usually over 75 miles but not much more, which is OK since I chose to work on the periphery and have had days when I did one call and racked up over three hundred miles. Getting home at a reasonable hour so that the employer gets their eight hours of honest work, but also I don't need to go to bed right after I park the work car. Also, less than average amounts of people who must drive very differently than me while I'm on the road (to describe it any other way leads to madness, and who needs that?).
The last weekend was decent as well. While gas prices and the new house payments prevent me from exploring like I used to do (d'oh...), the local weather has been nice. The new place has a larger back yard than I'm used to, but it has been nice and green so far this year. And the $80 riding mower makes short work of tending to it.
So, while it hasn't been terribly exciting, it has been pleasant. Pleasant is good.
