    But you don't have to wait for a slow laptop to load and they still worked with flat batteries

      The really old machines were OK where the paper manual was quite small, but towards the end I was carrying a huge folder with me under my arm, it did take some getting used to at first, but laptops are much better IMO, and I carry the mains lead, so flat batteries are never a problem

        With the number of different equipment that I occassionally have to work on, it could take 15 to 20 minutes just to find the corrrect manual without the laptop, not to mention the size of trailer I would need to carry everything.
