Of course, if you want to go somewhere really exotic, you could go to Kent, but you'd have to lose that brummie accent so us cockneys could understand what you're saying

You ain't been anyplace that counts till you've been to Nebraska.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

I've been to Canada, the Rocky Mountains have to be better than Nebraska

One nice thing about Nebraska. They have really nice corn fields. LOL.

So thinking of heading Down Under to Oz? The question to ask yourself is not "is Australia good enough for me?" but "am I good enough for Australia?" We don't just let anybody in here you know, the entry requirements are pretty stiff.

(unless of course your a Towel Head Talaban who claims your a refugee and arrive uninvited by boat then we'll spend a vast amount of money on you, give you a $1000 a month on the dole and won't complain when you send half of it back home so more of your "family" can turn up uninvited)

You obviously didn't read all of my post then, because I stated almost exactly which part of Canada I live in; everyone's always been to the west coast and assumes that's all of Canada without a second thought. It's over rated in my opinion, because it's all I hear about yet I really have no interest in going there aside from one or two little things. I've heard New Brunswick is actually much nicer, the people there are some of the friendliest you'll ever meet, or so the wife's family continues to go on and on about...

You may also be living in a part of Canada where private healthcare is an option, in which case your taxes would be lower. It's not so grand everywhere... I do invite you to finish reading my post, however.

I read your entire post and the Canada you live in sounds bleak indeed. I have been in every province except Newfoundland and i find that all areas have their own qualities.
I would not give up my health care, it is one of the best things about this great country.
I sometimes wonder why people who hate their place of residence so much, but still decide to stay. It's a big country and even bigger world. Pick someplace you like. lol. Life is too short to spend it where you truly don't want to be.

Bleak is a good summation of it, not exactly the greatest, but not exactly third world. That's the great part of Canada, everywhere has its own qualities that separate one province from another. I enjoy my free healthcare, but I dislike how everyone is treated equally and someone with a serious problem gets the same treatment as someone with a minor head cold. There are some cases that require more urgent care, and I would happily apply an insurance policy to getting priority treatment of a serious issue if it were possible for me.

The issues most people would be facing preventing them from moving are very likely financial issues, moving is never cheap. Costs are exacerbated depending on the distance of the move. I'd love to go to Australia and live there for example, warm weather year round and hasn't been impacted by the market collapse of North America. I don't have the tens of thousands of dollars it would cost to have my stuff shipped down to me and the moving fees, however. Going back to Winnipeg would be another option I'd love to take, but job markets there are rather limited to construction jobs, or specialties - there's always Xerox, but I'd rather saw off my own leg with a rusty jagged spoon than become a Xerox technician. So for now I'll stay where I am, in contempt, biding my time until something better can present itself.

Life is not always so black and white.

You can't emigrate to the US, you have to walk across the southern border like all the other resident aliens.
