    Hybrid Cars and Copy Technicians??

    OK, so besides giving up my manhood for even thinking about getting a Hybrid as my car for work, can anyone please let me know if this is a good idea?? Or why its not the way to go or maybe some of you already using Hybrids as a form of transportation for work. Tell me how that's going for you. I did my research and at the end of the day the "vehicle allowance" given to me by my company...well that pretty much will cover the monthly payment...lay it on me...I can take it. Thanks!

      What is the PM schedule for hybrids over conventional and costs for repairs?

      Copiers are a lot like cars.
      There are maintenance costs and parts.

      I would give hybrids a few more years before considering replacing my Toyota truck.
      It has never left me stranded and repairs have been almost nil after more than 70K.

      Just my 0.03 cents. (had to raise the price again.)
      Why do they call it common sense?

      If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

          See if you can get the salesman to tell you what the expected battery life is and how much its going to cost to replace them. That seems to be a better kept secret than the Fort Knox combination lock code or Dolly Partons bra size.
          At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

              I like the Hybrid.... My old man owns the lastest Toyota Prius.
              He boast to me the other day he did a fuel ecconomy check that worked out to be Seventy(70) Miles to the gallon.
              What's that work out in metric?... About 25.5km per litre (4.54ltr=gallon)

              The Toyota Prius craps all over my V6 Honda Accord for fuel ecconmy....

                  I only drive used cars...the initial outlay for a hybrid would take far too many years to even break even with gas at its current levels. If you are getting around 30 mpg you should be still coming out ahead unless you paid 35K for the vehicle. And....who would want to destroy the resell value of a 35K car by driving 25-30K per year???                       I drove a hybrid while getting my license with my uncle, he was telling me similar stories of getting over 50 mpg, seemed like a nice little lunch box to drive.

                      Nothing I would consider for our line of work if your roads are less than desirable or you have very long distances to travel, it's a small fuel tank. Ideally it's designed to run primarily on the battery which only works at urban speeds (35mph/50kph) or less.

                          One very important thingt to consider. Does the Hybrid have enough room to carry everything you might have to take with you on a service call?

                              We've had a Prius since 2005 (not for service calls, though) and there is more room than you might expect. We've picked up bales of hay without any problems with space.

                                  Yeah, they are qutie roomy in some respects. The engine is identical to a petrol (ICE) engine. You would be hard to find any difference. Just that they have an electrical engine built into the flywheel. Same as the first Model T-Ford. The on board computer switches the ICE on and off to charge the battery or power up an incline. An power to really get going when both the ICE an electrical engine kick in at the same time.

                                  They have no gears. Just forward and reverse. They have a vari-drive gearbox for continuous torque at any speed. The hardest thing to get use too is that they make no sound. It's quite weird sitting at traffic lights an you just move off with no noise...

                                      I drove a 2003 Honda civic hybrid till it had 210k miles on it then we gave it to our daughter who is still driving it. It originally started as work car for my wife then when I got rid of my old work car I started driving the Honda. You can't beat always getting over 40 mpg.
