Plague Inc is a nice lil fun strategy game to kill time....and Shadow Era is a fun TCG...both on android and apple....hmmm...other apps I use a lot....Keeper is a nice one for storing all the passwords you gotta remember...free and paid version of it.....just don't forget the password to get into it....other than that its the usual Facebook, iBooks, news, weather apps...

      Re: BEST APPS ANDROID/APPLE

I'll start my post here by saying I have an Android device, and all my apps are all related to this platform. I do not support Apple products whenever possible due to their restrictive nature in having absolutely everything tied to iTunes. If these apps are available through the iTunes store, I still recommend them as they'll likely have the same effects, but I know of nothing iPhone specific.

Plague Inc. was a great way to kill time until it was completed. I have yet to try out the scenario mode, however.

JuiceDefender is the app I use to preserve my battery life. If I have one complaint about it - it's a result of a fault in the Android 4.4 Kitkat kernel, wherein the mobile data does not turn on properly after being shut off or leaving a WiFi zone, and the phone has to be restarted for any data operations to take place. I still recommend this app to anyone complaining of battery problems with their Android device. My dad and brother both have the Galaxy S4 as do I, and their batteries don't last half as long as mine does.

Gmote is a great app that allows you to play music/videos on your computer OR phone.

Avast! Mobile Security is great for keeping your phone virus free, also has handy locking/tracking features if you happen to misplace your phone. I've used it once in that note to great success, flagged the phone as lost, put message on the screen, tracked it by last active GPS coordinates.

RemoteControl for Winamp is handy for controlling music on your PC if your preferred player is Winamp.

Remote for VLC follows a similar idea as RemoteControl for Winamp, except VLC is almost a no brainer and everyone should be using it 95% of the time. I can browse my entire music/movie folders and queue them up for play in the playlist without having to actually go to my computer.

Checkout 51 is a great app for Canadians only. They'll put up coupons for certain products, if you scan your receipt showing purchases of these products they'll credit your account for X amount of dollars (assigned coupon value), once you hit $20 or more you can cash in and they'll send you a cheque for the money.

AirDroid is a great app for those who like to connect their phones to the PC frequently for picture uploads/downloads etc. Follows the same principle except it works over WiFi instead - no more cables necessary! There's a 100MB monthly limit of uploads/downloads for free users, but I have yet to hit that.

GrooVe IP Lite is Google Voice based calling program. Make calls over WiFi and save yourself the expensive long distance bills! Americans can use the Google Voice app as they can get a GV number.

Duolinguo - I can't recommend this app enough. It's a free version of Rosetta Stone that does the exact same thing with similar or better results. I'm using it to touch up on my French that I've seldom used since high school, and afterwards I'll be learning Spanish.

For rooted Android users - there are several apps that apply specifically to us.

Titanium Backup - amazing app for backing up EVERYTHING on your phone.

NoBloat Free - get rid of that annoying bloatware that comes installed on every Android device.

Greenify - save tons of battery use by "hibernating" programs that run in the background constantly sending out push notification requests.

AdBlock Plus - that's right, the awesome firefox/chrome app is available for all Android devices as well! Rooted users have full functionality of the app across all phone data traffic. Stock device users are still able to procure and use AdBlock Plus, but it may not function as well as if it were rooted.

Hope someone draws some use from this post and enjoys some of these apps.

Didn't see Drop Box mentioned. Sends all your pics and videos back to your pc. Then I can delete without losing cool pics when I run out of space.

Drop Box is standard on Android Kitkat 4.4. Anyone who made the correct decision when purchasing a phone doesn't need it mentioned.

I think all you have is Samsung KNOX then unfortunately. There are always custom ROMs, or installing it from the play store.

You can try a custom rom, if for whatever reason you need to bring it back in reinstall the original and set the ROM flag back to 0 with either main rooting program.

I rooted my first Android phone, a samsung galaxy ace and there was a uninstaller that indicated what I could safely uninstall. It didn't appear I could remove much, and got rid of thinkfreeoffice and freed up a measly 6mb.
