    Lifelong Republican voting for Obama

I have voted Republican ever since I was of age to vote. I continue to think of myself as a Republican, however, for the first time in my life I will vote for a Democrat for President.
The main reason is because the Republican party has left the true conservatives behind many years ago. My choice for President is Democrat Obama or McCain. That's it. No Republican candidate this year.
Also the Republicans have spent and spent and increased the size of government. The budget is totally out of control. Oil prices are ridiculously high with no alternative in sight. Yet the biggest scandal has yet to hit the front pages; Wall Street and the "mortgage crisis". There are MAJOR issues on Wall Street. There are going to be huge bank and broker failures to come. All blamed on a made up mortgage crisis. It's all a ploy to put billions of dollars of Wall Street bad bets on the backs of US tax payers. Learn about Naked Short Selling at deepcapture.com ;It will kill the American financial system.
I am voting Obama this year. I am voting against anyone currently in office in my State election (except Sen. DeMint). And if they don't get it right, I will vote against them in the next election. We must stand up as voters and demand that Public Servants serve the public again. Keep voting them out of office until we get those that listen to the voters.

Yep unfortunatley it's a lot like flipping a coin and you get the same side no matter.

Just trying to make sure folks out there are thinking about it.

I agree McCain is a RINO.

To be fair BOTH parties have had there hands in the cookie jar. Not just the Republicans. So they are both guilty of creating this humongous, bloated non functioning blob, that we call government.

Being a Reagen conservative, I have been left behind, long ago.

I say we fire the whole lot of them and start over.

I will be voting for McCain. Will be holding my nose though. I have looked at how the candidates, stand and McCain is closer to me than Obama.

In the whole scheme of things, there is one thing that I rest on. God is in control. So I will be all right. The world will still be turning after the election, no matter who wins. How we live after that will be up to us. I do not rely on the government, so my future is up to me. I do not want the government to help me. I just want them to stay the heck out of my life, stay out of my wallet. It is a sad day when, people think that the government owes them.

If Obama wins, then I can complain about him, and tell you I told you so. But, if McCain wins, then the Obama supporters can complain.

I am agreeing to disagree with any Obama supporters, on this site. No matter who you support, we are fellow techs, and I will help any and all that I can.

Okay, forget what I said before ... I'm voting for the dude with the hottie for a running mate, Sarah Palin. She may look like 'Mom' to some of you youngsters, but she smashes Hilarity to pieces in the looks department.

But seriously, I think one aspect of McCain's decision was to add some youth to counter all the age-discriminating rhetoric coming from the media and democrats (or are they the same?). It is really an insult to us older gentlemen to hear that a man of McCain's seasoned years is ready for the pasture.

I was nuetral, but now I'm going to polls for sure so I can see Ms. P for 4 or 8 years.

              Hasta la vista, amigos

                More selections please...

I'll probably vote for neither. I'm going to vote for Ralph Nader if he runs again, however the Green Party (which is more popular in Europe) is not going to get behind him again. Ralph Nader is in touch with people and he knows how to deal with the Senate. The Smithsonian has one of Ralph Nader's books (about the legislation he passsed to improve car safety) on display. He has been an advocate for regular people since the 60's. He has passed many laws that protect people and their money from big business.

I can not believe that this is the first time in recent history that we have two bloomin' senators running for Prez. The Senate is a 75% money grabbing, time wasting, bathroom stall toe-touching losers. I used to belong to an organization that lists how their congress person and senator voted on certain issues. MOST of them DON'T vote on really important issues. They are essentially professional filabusters!

Bottomline... why do we have more choices for toilet paper than presidents? AND, since when is only TWO choices GOOD ENOUGH for any American??

Because toilet paper does a more important job!!

Seriously, in this day and age a third party candidate does not have a chance. There are too many people who vote for their party and not the candidate. That is just the way it is.

I say we just run the presidential race like a lot of city races. We leave all the candidates on the ballot and the highest vote getter is President, and the second one, is Vice President. Could make for some interesting teams.

Remember the short guy with the bad haircut??

                    H. Ross Perot! How wonderful Third party. There's a real good argument that he is why Bill Clinton became president twice.

Did you know in 96 when Bill was reelected that about 49 percent of the registered voters actually voted and Bill got about 49 percent of that. Oh yes not even over half.

In fact he was put back in the White House by lees than one quarter of the voting population. Do the math.

And Perot was in both those races and his primary voter bas was disgruntled republicans. To be fair Bob dole wan't gonna win but isn't it fun that Ross don't run if a Clinton don't?

                      Voter Guide

Someone sent me a voter guide put out by the Family Research Guide. It answers questions about both candidates on several issues, with footnotes where they got the answer.

To me it was scary, but I put it here for others that might want to see it. I do not put it here to persuade anyone in anyway. Just for education.

I have lived through a lot of presidential elections (12) and I know what is said on the campaign trail means very little about how a president will perform or even what policies he will actually support. However, a person's personality almost always carries over into their public office.

I pay very little attention to what either candidate says. One side is all about 'change'. I have never seen a presidential election yet where that word wasn't hammered to death.

The other side yacks about experience and patriotism. Like I haven't heard that a billion times before.

Nope, it is just a matter of who you'd like to sit down and have a beer with.
I really do not want someone running the country that I would want to have a beer with. Last time I took a look inside a bar or pub at who was tossing back brews, I don't think I saw anyone qualified to run a small village let alone a country of 300 million. Or to look at it another way, I don't want "a buddy" or someone I would want to be pals with to get the job. I don't know about you guys, but most of my "friends" are a bunch of dumbasses. I can't see these clowns being in charge of any place I live. I want a president to be a hell of a lot smarter than I.

You can add ME to your friends list here, and then you will have at least one friend who certainly is not a dumbass. Perhaps a friend you do not agree with, but certainly not stupid.
