    I'm going to hide too.
Heh, I was working at a school this morning, and while I was signing in some guy came in in a bigfoot outfit. It was pretty good, gave me a bit of a start when I first saw it.

Ten years ago no one had ever heard of "trick or treat" in Oz but due the suffocating over abundance of low quality American TV shows our local kids now thing its a great Australian tradition. American cultural imperialism at its worse.

I'm in an apartment, full of shift-workers. The doors remain locked this year as every year, so no treaters for me.

Permit me to share my getup from 2011, I sat outside my sister-in-law's place as I lived there at the time, dressed as this. I made myself look like a scarecrow, got a bulky jacket and stuffed it with pillows, taped garbage bags over my shoes to appear as though they were just bags stuffed with leaves. I sat perfectly still for near 3 hours, only ever moving when people were coming by.

I kept a running tally of all the people who cried, because what's Halloween without a little scare? All in all, over the entire 3 hours, I made 63 people cry. 1 was unintentional, a little girl no more than 4 years old or so. I had taken off the mask and just waved to her in an attempt to not scar her for life, upon seeing my actual face she began crying. It was a small blow to the ego...

Of the 63 criers? 17 were adults who tagged along with the children. That's right, I made 17 grown people bawl like babies from being terrified. I guess I was the very first person to do this in my town, as the proceeding years yielded more people imitating my getup. This year I get to bring my little guy around to get his candy, and protect him from the big scary monsters. He's only 3, so I don't want him scarred for life just yet.

Incidentally, I may have very recently already scarred him for life. He was poking mommy and running around giggling like crazy, so whilst he wasn't looking, I poked him back. He turned around "Daddy, what was that?!", "A ghost", I replied. The look on his face turned from joy to terror and confusion. He said "Where did it go?"; now here's where I really fucked up. I thought it would be a great opportunity to kill 2 birds with one stone, and as he likes tagging along to do laundry, but frequently gets in the way, I thought I could convince him to stay out of the laundry room. I told him "The ghost went to the laundry room" and watched as all confusion melted from his expression, leaving only terror.

If you've ever seen someone in movies/tv/real life who bears witness to some unspeakable horrors, and their expression just goes blank; that was the very same look he sported as he became eerily silent and wanted cuddles from mommy. My own face was blue from laughter, as I got a death-glare from mommy and a stern look of distrust from my little guy.
Let us know if it worked at keeping him out of the laundry room.

Too busy keeping the lights off and making like no-one is home.

The last couple of years there were a number of rowdy groups going up and down the street with bags of lollies.

This year, it was just the one group of 2. And up the street and around the corner is usually a Haunted House thing is done. It's pretty good; no screams this year.

It all came and went. I had one ring at the door.

Realize I'd turned the porch light on after getting home from having a pint and steak.

Got up, and Turned it off and got back to zombie/mutant killing on the computer.

                  That's the spirit.

I was trying to tell my neighbouring faction I didn't want to give them military access to my lands, and I certainly wasn't going to pay them to invade me. Total War Diplomacy is weird.

Went out with Mrs Lagonda on Friday night and took a detour through the night club district on the way home to have a look at the Halloween revelers. There certainly were some weird and wonderful sights, but I'm sure some of them weren't in fancy dress!

Yeah I was playing KillingFloor, they have this Halloween update where all the Zeds(the mutant zombies are called) are all reskinned in hillbilly getups. I noticed they had different hat colors for the first time..

I'm sure some dress that way ever day.. Some may not dress at all.

When I went out to eat earlier that night, we had a waitress dressed as a nurse. Another waiter was dressed up as a fireman. Those were the only costumes I saw that night.

Years ago when we lived in a residential area , we did not give out candy ......
we would get bags of small apples and oranges to give out .
Word got around that we did not have candy , and soon we had very few kids show up . ( Less each year )

The benefits of the left-over fruit was , squeeze the oranges for fresh juice, and the apples became a pie .

I like your thinking, but buy the fruit, don't answer the door...even more fruit for juice and pies for you

Just like last year; plan on spending $50 + dollars on a costume only to have it rain and dress her in rain gear.
Thus covering the aforementioned costume......good times.
