Nothing flashy, but on the MX 550, the gear on the upper fuser roller, sheared off the tab that goes into the notch, I was able to drill and drive in a screw that locked into that notch, and it held for a week till I got the gear and got back to the school for the PM, dont know why they dont have the gears in PM kits or fuser roller kits like they used to

ok so about a year and a half ago i had a 99 f150, hit in the front end (approx 40 mph into a tree) i bought it because the motor in mine through a rod. I decided instead of swapping motors to swap front ends, I cut the front ends off, right above the wheels..... welded them back on, replaced the air bags, then noticed the frame rail was bent so the bumper would be cocked....cut off bumper brackets, welded them on crooked so the bumper looked straight. THEN while replacing the spark plugs back in, one cross threaded...soo i JB welded in place.

3 weeks later some hispanic gentleman thinks i have a nice looking truck and offers me 3000 for it....i couldn't get him the title fast enough.

      Pictures defiantly related.

Probably these are ones that everybody knows but maybe it'll give someone a good idea:

Cut small nails to replace pins you have lost.

In a major pinch you can squeeze a small paper clip around a shaft for a makeshift e-clip I've had these last for a loooong time one something I couldn't get back to right away.

Take a popped thermostat and throw it against the floor till you get continuity again.

Cut small slits across a slick tire to make it feed better if you don't have a replacement at the moment.

Straws for canned air etc fit pretty well through a 1/16" hole and if you carry a drill bit they can be used to repair things like corona spring holders, etc... If you carry a drill bit with a 1/4 lug then it fits in your 1/4 screw driver and you can hand drill through plastic pretty easy.

1/16" drill bit works pretty well to make a starter hole for plastic screws. So does a heated paper clip.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

My sarcasm got me into this one, new machine with single door replaced older model with double door. Customer could not get into remove jam unless you pulled off finisher and rotate machine because of space restriction, I was in meeting with sales and customer and it was not going well, and I said we can either cut counter top back or cut the copier door in half. I found myself putting a Piano hinge on the door, and the Franken copier was born. I have since done this Modification 4x.

This is what can happen if you don't get a CarFax report on a vehicle. Buyer beware. Still, it IS amazing. Photos were great. Thanks.

I once 'cast' a new actuator lever in an old Lanier branded Toshiba analog machine.

I took the snapped part, glued it together (it was made of nylon or a nylon like plastic that didn't glue up well), and pressed it into some modeller's clay. After careful extraction so as not to disturb my 'mould' I mixed up some Permatex Cold Weld (like JB Weld but sets up much faster) and filled the mould. After some clean-up work on the pivot hole and edges I was good to go.

I never did return to replace it and to the best of my knowledge it served for the rest of the machine's life.

I used to work on a lot of Canon machines where the corona block covers were held on with plastic screws, and quite often the heads would snap off.

I carried an old jeweler's screwdriver (just for this purpose), and I'd heat the tip of it with a lighter just enough to melt itself into the broken screw. Being plastic, it took very little torque to get the little critter out.

I once needed to mount key switches into a bunch of Canon copiers, as the customer didn't want to buy key counters.

The "barrel" switches that we bought required an 11/16" hole to mount where the key counter would normally go.

How to drill a round hole of this size in a plastic panel? A simple wood bit on my drill, backed up by a small wood block, worked just fine. (Plastic doesn't put up much of a fight...)

Patched up the edges of a torn transfer belt with plain old sticky tape. Lasted the 3 days til the new belt arrived. But i was waiting for the return call.

Nail polish on a ricoh mpw2400 plotter drum that was accidentally scraped... Looked like it got worse at first for the first few feet of fed paper, after about a week it had completely disappeared and now you couldn't even tell where it was scraped.

The girl who borrowed us her nail polish happened to have one roughly the same colour as the drum (why someone would want nail polish in that colour is beyond me)
