Although, having been a Xeroid for so many years, I knew Chester Carlson, but I couldn't remember the years
I would have guessed close to the right year, I remember Xerox introducing the "50" range of machines (including the amazing 5028 and the not so great 5034) to mark 50 years of xerography, that must have been back in 1988 when I was still a relative newbie. I remember threatening to take out a grievance procedure against a team leader who told me he wouldn't have me trained on the 5034 because he didn't think a girl could manage it!!!!

I haven't met you in person yet, but I'd know better than to say that to you.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.
There were many models before those. How could you forget the 1020?
He offered the patent to IBM and they turned him down.

As the "50" series marked 50 years of xerography I know there were loads of models that came before, the 1020 was a pretty good little machine, apart from the blank area down one side of the copies caused by the stripper belt, the blank area that customers always swore was never there previously

I have worked with a lot of "girls" when I was in the Army Reserves who could manage things just as well and in some cases better then most of the men. Personally I would not consider a young lady in her mid twenties a girl.
