Re: Poll: Best color Machine out there in Copyland: Go!
I started with Ricoh BW high volumes, my first color machine scared the @#@$ out of me a Ricoh 5560 only the the PM requirements on that thing alone was frightening and very expensive. And then got assaulted with all the smaller Ricoh color machines.
Konica Minolta color machine changed the way i feel about color machines, there easy to wrap your head around and easy to maintain. The C252 then C360 is still my favorite color machines the C652 is very impressive.
Also had Kyocera Mita 5500ci machines that just worked.Whatever -

I guess there would be too many manufacturer models to pick from.
Overall, I always thought that for just a business colour machine, the MP C3500/C4500 were pretty good. I had a bunch of those in the field when I was still direct and once you got them tweaked just right (drum cleaning intervals, frequent replacement of fuser oilers) they would just run.
The only issues I had with it was the fact that the fuser took forever to rebuild in the field, but with frequent oiler/cleaner roller replacement I could get over 200k before needing to do a PM on it (300k seemed to be the point at which the foam roller in the fuser would start to break apart).
My first B2C boxes were the LD232c/228c: I was a dedicated tech for a single site and I had about ten of them to manage along with an LD090 and a few LD122's so overall I was pretty spoiled.Comment

It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

The Konica Minolta Bizhub C220 range is a great box, runs clean, maintains copy quality, and has no hard drive issues like the new boxes.
the Kyocera TA250ci range is not great and very dirty..The gene pool could use a little chlorine.Comment

For business color, the Sharps are a great bargain, and produce a near 'press quality'.
The color developer is expensive, but I don't know the cost of other OEMs.

Re: Poll: Best color Machine out there in Copyland: Go!
If you really are looking for the biggest piece of crap color machine, I can't think of a better candidate than the AF 615 C.
Not so much for the output or reliability, if the thing worked correctly it really wasn't that bad.
It was just that the machine was so stupidly fragile that a couple of times I had to replace the entire freaking print engine when the thing broke during delivery. That was unbelievably expensive. It also took a while to do, normally after everyone else had gone home, during the winter.
Then again, I probably should have known better. The Lanier version model number was LD215c. In the Lanier tech lexicon, the number 215 is not looked upon favorably. At least by techs that have been around for a while.Comment
