I haven't been doing this THAT long, but Ricoh/Savins USED to be built like a tank. Might have puked toner everywhere, but they were sturdy. Went to a call the other day on an MP 4054 with 3k, and the customer opened the right side door, and disgustedly pointed to "all the flimsy plastic", wondering how long before we start having problems with THAT?!?!?!?!?!?!? I really couldn't argue the point.......

The mpc3503 is 90lbs lighter than an mpc3500. Lots of plastic and any metal is paper thin. Don't strap them too tightly if you use a moving van to transport them, you will bend the frame.

We're just about to write off a MP C3003 that got somehow twisted during transport and I don't think that will be the last.

Remember the old Ricoh analogue copier? they weighed 250 kilo and that's a quarter of a ton in the old money! They don't build them like that any more.........thankfully.

Yes the new stuff is now like every other brand in cheap flimsy making, watch out for the razor sharp edges on the stamped metal pieces...............They will draw blood.............

I just looked at the specs and an mpc3554 weighs 150lbs..... Wow

Just lectured our truck drivers once again about being very gentle with the new '03 series but I don't think they heard me over the noise of their knuckles scrapping on the ground.

I have noticed on the newer machines, that they reinforce the backside of panels with a plastic honeycomb type lattice work. Maybe good for structure and lightweight, but if something punches through the outside plastic, it won't help very much!

MP6002, the plastic op panel sags badly - in order to swing out the toner bottle, you have to lift up on the op panel with one hand, and swing the bottle out with the other......
