    Ricoh Realm Name

Having issues removing the Ricoh Realm Name. I have an MP C5503. For some reason even after the nvram is cleared and the Erase All Memory is performed the realm name is still present. and cant be removed manually from the admin tab. Not having a lot of confidence in trusting Ricoh methods for removing all data. Not sure why this is not getting deleted during the erase all memory. i have also seen where the Supplies Number does not get removed in other models when these two operations are performed as well. Any ideas as to why these settings are not getting removed Now I'm wondering what else isn't getting removed. Erase All memory is suppose to remove everything but the smart operation panel which is disappointing as well.

    Totally wrong forum.
    Here's the right one:
A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost, he who sows courtesy, reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.
Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.

If by Erase All Memory you mean that you ran SP 5801-001, you are a total idiot. About all it and SP 5801-002 do is erase the final settings made at the factory to fine tune the machine to produce properly print quality and any adjustments made by technicians to registration and fusing setting.

BTW, WTF do you mean by Ricoh Realm Name?????

Erase All Memory is performed by dong this http://support.ricoh.com/bb_v1oi/pub_e/oi_view/0001053/0001053552/view/security/int/0087.htm
And does this. Erase All Memory
Unfortunately it still leaves data/settings on the machine. I also run SP 5801-001 because i dont really care about any adjustment made and it clears out some of the info that is not cleared by Erase All Memory.

When referring to Realm Name you login to admin, go to system setting, admin tools, user auth, windows auth. realm name. The Erase All Memory isnt clearing the Realm Name and isnto allowing it to be removed manually.

Web interface you can clear it so there must be a firmware issue. Ether wasy the Erase All Memory is very misleading. I aslo found toner phone number while i was digging around.

Since that is in what used to be called User Tools, it only erases "User settings" and not System Settings.

You are going to have a major problem getting the machine back to making usable print quality. SP 5801-001 and 5801-002 clear all line position settings, usually to the point where neither Color Registration in User Tools - Maintenance nor Forced Line Position in SP mode are able to correct. You have to manually adjust line position to get it close enough for one of the Auto Adjustments to work. If you have never done one before it can take hours.

There are a number of System related things that you can do from WIM that cannot be done from the Operation Panel. And there are things that can only be done form the Operation Panel.

There are also numerous service related setting that can only be made through Service Program, SP, Mode, and some that can only be accessed in Factory SP Mode. That phone number was probably for the original delivering dealer's supplies ordering desk. With a large dealership it is often different from their main number.

I'm guessing there is no way to print off every settings to verify everything everything is cleared. If these items are missed when the erase all is performed what else might be left on the machine?. Going through each and every setting would take a day. I did try to export the setting to see if the config file is in a format that can be viewed but that didn't work. My guess the file couldn't be able to be opened anyway. Not sure if there is a way to check every settings.

The file is totally capable of being opened and edited, just not with a text editor. It is a hexadecimal file and requires a hex editor.
