New to the copier tech industry

I am a 27 year old recent college graduate majoring in MIS and landed a job with a local copier and computer repair shop in the area. We are currently a Sharp dealer since Panasonic is no longer in the business. I am just wondering about if there is a good future in this industry. I have been working here for a year I am making $8 an hour right now, which I know is horribly low but I am using this job for experience to hopefully move to a bigger city and better job soon. What can I expect to find out there in terms of job availability, pay, possbile benefits? Thank you for reading and information you can provide!

Ah, where to begin? I guess it all depends on what kind of work you want to do in this industry. I'm assuming from your major that you are probably working as a technician. If you're looking for a job that pays well, rewards hard work, and will earn you respect then you may want to apply for a job in the sales department. If you are a total geek (like most of us here), love anything technical, enjoy fixing machines (solving puzzles), and have little desire for material gain or the respect of your superiors (or customers in a lot of cases) then you may enjoy a career as a copier tech.
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.
