    Greetings!

    Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum, trying to navigate my way through the layout. I'm not new to printer repair, though it's been a long time since I used to service the older HP LaserJet III, IIIsi, IV, V, printers.

I picked up a DesignJet 815mfp (800ps plotter / 4200 scanner) for home use (I build and fly model sailplanes), and I wanted the means to scan and print blueprints without having to spend a small fortune at the local copy centers. It was inexpensive, but needed work, and after seven months of it sitting, I'm ready to do the repairs.

Kiran Otter has been incredibly helpful in providing the recovery images for the PC that attaches to the scanner and is working with me on scanner maintenance. The unit I picked up only came with the scanner, printer and PC (and stands) -- but no software or maintenance kits. I have a new lamp, scanner glass and background plate -- but I'm in need of the optical adjustment pattern (Q1278-60013) (see attachments). The one that says "necessary service tools" is what I see when I try to do scanner maintenance. The second image is the part that I'm apparently missing.

I look forward to meeting many of you over time, and will do what I can to offer assistance to the community.

    Cheers!

    Phil

Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm eager to bite into the repairs of this beast (despite my wife's wishes) -- but we'll get it there together.

            Thanks again!
