"Upon closing of the transaction, IKON will become a subsidiary of Ricoh and maintain its headquarters in Malvern, PA."
As a subsidiary would this not allow them to continue business on the same line, though I would'nt have thought Canon, HP or Konica would be to pleased.
How would this stand with conflict of interests?. Time will no doubt tell.Comment

But what will Canon do?Will they continue to have parts available to IKON or will they do what they did to Global and shut them off??And what about till the official take-over...is it business as usual? So many questions and only a few answers in a brief report. As Gamut put it...only time will tell.Comment

News is Ricoh (if it happens) will run Ikon as an independent and slowly intergrate (over 3-4 years) non Ricoh customers.
If your a Canon/Konica dealer get ready for the spoils of war.
Sales, Techs and non Ricoh customers are gonna be jumping boat and will need to be re-housed.
Of course it's not a done deal and Canon could still counter bid, but that's another story!!!!!!.Comment

Future vendor wars
It will be interesting to see what happens to all their other dealers. Many of the small dealers are make or break based on RMAP (Ricoh Major Accounts Program) service income. Now Ricoh will have their own field service fleet, so they will probably run all the RMAP calls themselves.
I wonder if ComDoc saw this coming? As one of Ricoh's larger dealers, if not largest, they probably stand to lose the most.
I wonder what Canon will do, or who they will buy? Canon is notorious for canceling dealers who are bought by competitors. Just ask any of the Toshiba dealers who also sold Canon. Will they cut their largest dealer's nose off to spite their own faces?Comment
