    Re: Coin Vend

If you can get a trigger signal from the scanner and add some external logic to distinguish between "start of print" and scans it could be possible with an old school vendor.
But i would not try that on a new machine.

You would be more into logic electronics than printers.

Not sure if the new API stuff could help.
    Whatever

I'm not sure about the scans, but you can contact ACDI (ACDI Powered by Papercut) and if it can be done, they can do it.

Ditto, I've used their coin ops with good results and excellent support. Paper cut will handle the scan part very soon if not now.

RE : Coin Vend scanner charge.

Assuming platun/glass top scanning only: (No public coin vend would use an RDF surely...)

A simple cabinet style magnet glued onto the scanner lamp ass'y any where you like, which then triggers a simple reed switch at the same locale.
You now have a simple safe scanner counter signal to interface your electronics into.

          Double counter :
Place two reed switches on the scanner frame for A4 and A3 page lengths.
You must charge twice for A3 otherwise people will scan two A4's at the same time and you'll only charge them for one.

          Hint :
Place the A3 scan reed switch at the end of A4 scan page length. People will also learn that scanning in A4R(SEF) mode will cost them twice.

We've found coin units from SEM have any option we've needed so far. ITC will also do it.

Here's SEM's website, just in case. Home page

Did you end up finding a solution?
