Looking to start a small dealership

Hi everyone, after a lot of consideration I have decided to have a go at starting a dealership. I have been reading through a lot of posts on the forum for as much information as possible however some of it is rather outdated now.

I was wondering if you guys could give me some information on a couple of things, firstly what manufacturer would you recommend to start off with, the two main factors I am concerned about is obviously the cost to buy and maintain the devices and also what the manufacturers attitude is like towards quotas as I expect the first few months to be slow.

Also if anyone could help me out with a basic overview of a service contract I would be very grateful as I don't want to miss anything out.

Wow no feedback, I am a Kyocera/Copystar dealer and I am completely happy with our product NOW. We have had a couple of bumpy series but I believe we are past that for the time being and a 3 year warranty doesn't hurt either

Thanks for the reply Scott, can you please tell me how you went about becoming a Kyocera dealer? I have looked on their website and cant see anywhere I can contact them to discuss things.

I second Kyocera/Copystar. We've been a Copystar dealer for almost 15 years. They seem to cater to the smaller dealerships and their product offerings are great top to bottom. For me, their only weakness is color quality - but it's getting there. Get on board with their KFS remote management service and you will be able to offer in a small dealership what used to only be possible with a large one. Good luck!
