Re: Working as a technician for Xerox direct?
Xerox usally hires starting you as a contractor. You follow all the rules but for less pay and benfits but not Xerox. You go through all Xerox training that is very good and only work on models your trained on. Sometimes they will hire if an opening for work ie guy retires but not guarantee.
There dispatching is world class and also parts. Any part overnighted by 10:30.Comment

You will always be employed under the fear that one day you will wake up on the wrong side of a corporate spreadsheet that requires them to dispose of a certain number of employees quickly.
As big contracts come and go so do employees.Comment

Now isn't this true considering the field as a whole? Companies small and large do this I feel.Comment

Re: Working as a technician for Xerox direct?
I worked for Xerox 20+years, left in 2005 but have kept in touch with former employees, trainers. The company is a shell of what it once was. Very few techs are direct Xerox employees, most are working for 3rd party companies. I seen it coming when I left and don't regret it a bit. Working for a small local IT services company that is a Copystar dealer but am currently exploring options at Canon USA if anyone has opinions for that company. Might start a new post for that but thought I'd throw that out. I've been in the industry for 37 years so not looking to start a career, just something to bridge to retirement. Thanks for any comments.Comment
