    Title agency volume drop

We have a title agency as a client that has changed the way they do closing packets. They called last week and said they are going paperless (almost) and wanted to discuss their contacts. Because they we well above their minimums I thought they should still be good and hit them. As we talked they said there is a dip in the industry that will explain some of the reduction in printed pages. They averaged 120+ closings per month to less than 30 right now. A normal closing required a 300+ page packet but is now 27 pages. Lots of digital paperwork going back and forth.

They have 3 locations and 5 machines. Previously they were running 717,000 pages per year but are now on pace to run 32,000 on all 5 machines. I gave them a proposal for a minimum of 170,000 pages for the year and they accepted. They scan like crazy.

I did a quick check on our other title agencies and so for they are just slightly below normal.

At this point they are running more scans then prints, essentially, they have a scanner that prints occasionally.
Some dealerships will start to charge in a scenario like this as you are taking calls on the ADF and changing rolls but not getting revenue from the clicks as you were before.
.0009 per scanned page will at least give you some revenue to cover calls and ADF parts....

They only have one aged machine and the combined scan counts for the 5 is 4.4M. I ran into a dealer at a show years ago that was billing for scans. I have not seen any dealer around here doing it yet.

Part of the equest from this customer was also a quote for a desktop scanner. They already have big Panasonic that looks like it will hold 500 originals but they said that is overkill now.

Those Panasonic KV / KX scanners were some of the best scanners I've ever seen. They could go a million between PMs, heavy as a car battery, and ran like a raped ape.

          Sound advice.

We have some clients with price for scanning, not all but some. And that should be covered 100% in your case as with almost no clicks and huge scan count you're gonna start loosing money if not already.

They accepted an annual minimum of $2,465.00 for 170K pages. No where near what we were billing them but I also expect a huge decrease in service and supply usage.

Our contracts can be terminted by either party with 30 days written notice so if I see a loss I can quickly end it.
