I've heard of expos for all kinds of different consumer products where all the vendors are under one roof but never for copiers. But I haven't really researched it. Consumers get excited over TV's new funiture, carpet and many other things. I don't think too many folks get that excited over a new copier. It's just necessary.

Decades ago the was NOMDA, National Office Machine Dealers Association. If I remember correctly it was before COMDEX. During the early days of Plain Paper copiers it was about 50% copiers. It had an annual show in New York City and regional shows around the country. I was at the national show during on of the blackouts. I was staying at the Americanna and had just gotten of the elevator when the lights went out. 10 or 15 seconds earlier I would have been in the elevator with 5 American Airlines stewardess.

Got in my room and looked out the window to see the lights going out zone by zone across the city. The hotels put candles on all the tables and the piano in the lounge. Free bottled water for guests but with no power for cash registers, no alcohol served.

I gave you a thumbs up for the comment alone on the 5 American Airlines stewardess. I'd love to be trapped in an elevator with them. lol

In truth we would not have actually been trapped. We all had captains' lights. And I knew how to open the inside doors, same type as the elevators at the dormitory when I was in college. The ideal situation would have been if the power had gone out while the elevator was at my floor.
