Any Worthwhile Certs? CDIA+

Hey, all.... getting ready to take my A+ test. My employer does not require it or even reimburse for it, but I already came from a computer hardware background and should have taken it back in 20000 and I am just tired of thinking about. Anyone else here taking this or has taken this? How about other certs. that are worthwhile to the imaging/printing industry? I know Net+ and Microsoft's are always good. Has anyone yet dared to take the CDIA from CompTIA which is supposed to be for our industry? How about Adobe or Apple certs? Worthwhile? I am just trying to make myself worth more just in case have to start looking or just to boost confidence.

Please before you post, please know that I understand alot of techs HATE certification and do not see the value. Please do not post your rants and cert bashes, I do not blame you. Thanks.

A+...... dont even bother. Massive waste of time.

I also did mine in about 2000, it was such a load of crap. 3/4 of the questions were about Interrupt Requests for computer hardware, eg, what IRQ does a sound card use within windows?
If you study the books, you will pass easily.
Never used any of it anywhere afterwards.

As far as I can see, do your service work exceptionally well, and you will always have a employer wanting you, A+ certified or not.

CDIA+ is a good certification to have, especially if you are working a lot with scanning.

It's helpful to know the relationships between the different file types, lossless versus lossy compression, etc...

Although the newer version of the course isn't quite as technical as it was earlier on, it's still a good investment. A good portion of the course is on how to position and sell product. After all - we all have to wear a sales hat, at least from time to time...
