Where do you think the copier industry is headed?

I've seen many changes in this business over the last ten years. I see machines more integrated into the customer's network. Technicians are required to wear many different hats thus creating a demand for more diverse training. So, I'm wondering what's the next big change for this business.

I think the next big change in the industry is much better integration of the MFP copier to current customers networks. Thinks like better features such as using vpn's in large companies and migrating away from the need to make an actual copy eventually becoming an over glorified high speed scanner/ laser printer. I also think prices for new machines are going to come down in an effort to rejuvinate sales and avoid dealers changing over to doing there own refurbs on older machines and remarketing them to their own customer base. Ultamatly the future of the industrie lies with the dealers and what they decide to promote. I don't see Canon or other brand manufactures attempting to market and maitain their own products directly.
