which machine has a great doc feeder

which machine has a great doc feeder

I sell used machines and I'm presently selling sharp mxm450 to most of my customers. I have a customer that needs a strong doc feeder. they run mixed sets of letter and legal and the sets are 40 to 80 pages at a time. they want speed 40 to 60 cpm. I want the engine to hold up as well. would need to be 06 or newer. they won't be connecting it so prefur a machine that doesn't need a hard drive. any body want to throw some recomends at me

The 50-65 cpm black and white Ricoh machines have awesome document feeders. They are tough as nails.

The 55-105 page per minute canon image runner doc feeders are pretty amazing in my opinion. That would be the models that use the older style feeder:

          IR550/600/maybe 7200/8500/105/8070/9070/7095/7105

Customer once copied a yellow pages phone book...really thin paper and it did really well...the single sheet feeder was always kind of dumb but the normal multi-sheet section does well.

Now if you are looking at ALL TIME best document feeders, as far as feedability...I'd say the high end old xerox machines:

1090/5995/5100/5685 etc. they were all analog but I've seen those feeders feed duplex pages all the live long day before. they were pretty neat too, had two or three rubber belts with holes and a vacuum suction to them...made a neat and unique sound while in operation.

I have seen a xerox 4110/4112 dual scan head feeder in operation and it was pretty decent...did well with duplex thin pages smaller than 8.5x11. Scanned them quick and automatically rotated the images correctly even though the pages were being fed landscape and not portrait. The 4995 sucked b/c it has to reverse the feeder to scan the second side.

From what I've seen Sharp machines have the weakest document feeders out there. Some of the designs haven't changed since I was a Sharp technician 12 years ago. You can only go up from where you are at with the Sharp MX series. I always thought Sharp's doc feeders were their biggest weakness.

I love the new doc feeders on the Canon Advance series. Very reliable, simple paper path and easy to work on. What more can you ask for?

Was never a big fan of the sharp doc feeders either. Didn't like the old analog toshiba ones and some of their digital ones as well...which I think may have been rebranded sharp machines.

I have yet to see the newest canon doc feeders.

Now that I think of it...Kodak may make the best document feeders. On their very high end, fast, expensive document scanners I have seen a true mix of all kinds of originals put in the pile and the feeder takes them all beautifully...pretty fast too. I may be wrong but they might not do 600dpi.
