Re: managed print services
I find customers' never want to upgrade because they like the deal so much. Problem starts when some genius starts doing this and we feel the pressure to match it. I talked to dealer in my area who does it and his response was: it's nice to get a monthly check. Reading between the lines: It does not sound very lucrative.Comment

Re: managed print services
Sales and owners like the idea.
They think "techs can work on them, let's be honest printers are basically all the same"
Then we get the fun service call with no support, no manual, no parts and of course, "excuse ma'am can you show me how this turns on?"Comment

Good point. Managed sites seem to be a collection of all the crap nobody else wants, both hardware and software. Then there is never any money in the budget to upgrade to stuff that actually works and is maintainable.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. That’s why I keep mine locked up in the basement.” - Tim HawkinsComment

Re: managed print services
I'm sold. I will look at things for clients I'm not familiar with and help them if I can. Having contracts for machines that I'm not a dealer for is stressful, especially unprofitable contracts! Previous poster was right: a sales guy or half wit owner may say grab the contract and let the techs deal with it.Comment

Re: managed print services
We seem to like ours. I could go on and on about it..... but... this is a public site.Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.
