There really isn't a way to grow a business quickly that can really pay off. A business really is like a seed: it takes time and a lot of bullshit to make it grow. The easiest way to build your business though is to let people know what it is that you do: you're often your best advertising so be sure to always (ALWAYS) be presentable, and personable when out and about: you never know who a potential customer is going to be, or who may know a potential customer. I've gotten some of my best results just from talking to people in an intelligent manner and building my reputation from there. I may not be at a successful level just yet, but I have yet to find a fast, easy way to build...

True, a website is a good start but be sure you've got all of the licenses and tax stuff before launching: a friend of mine put up a website offering some services and got popped by the state tax board for not registering. I'd think though that you've got all of those ducks in a line at this point though.

One other thing: always, always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS keep your business cards with you. Even if they're lousy office store tear apart sheets printed at home, they're better than nothing. You never know who you'll run into on the street.

A case in point since my last post: I gained a customer over this past weekend just from presenting myself well. It may just be a one-off job, but I was told there would be the potential for more work down the line. The customer's main reason for choosing me: I looked more professional in the way I was dressed than the last provider he used for the same service. Apparently the tech showed up at the guy's place of business to work (with customers present) looking like a slob, and acting about the same.

Don't forget to constantly ADD to your current stock of knowledge. Keep abreast of technological progress & changes, be tech savvy. If you are a copier tech, it pays to get additional training in IT...essentials; Networking & Connectivity[Incl. Soft wares]. In short become a 'Hybrid Tech'. Be organized, Blow your own horn. Networking with people is paramount; reach out to the customers, be creative and proactive; always look ahead of your competitors. Don't abandon your customers once you sell them a contract.

To be successful in business you need to be organized. Organization will help you complete tasks and stay on top of things to be done. A good way to do this is to create a to-do list each day - as you complete each item, check it off your list. This will ensure that you're not forgetting anything and you're completing all the tasks that are essential to the survival of your business. All successful businesses keep detailed records. By keeping detailed records, you'll know where the business stands financially and what potential challenges you could be facing. Just knowing this gives you time to create strategies to overcome the obstacles that can prevent you from being successful and growing your business. Competition breeds the best results. To be successful, you can't be afraid to study and learn from your competitors. After all, they may be doing something right that you can implement in your business to make more money.

Most important thing is to be impecable with your word even if it costs you money. Always under-promice and over-deliver.
