Canon DR-9080C Scanner - handle getting stuck inside unit

The handle to open the upper scanner assembly on this model is getting stuck inside the lid and I was just wondering if
anyone has came across the issue of this and also the lock hinges (hooked) on both sides of the lid
getting stuck so the lid will not close. I've temporarily fixed this for a customer before but a more
permanent fix is needed.
In case anyone comes across this same issue, the lock hinges can be fixed temporarily by actuating
them towards the back of the unit so that they would latch shut when the lid closes.

Also, is there a service manual available for this model?
